Does anyone else feel like they're cheating when using digital methods like blending modes (overlay/multiply/etc), color adjustments, or transforms/liquify?
I know it's not cheating, but I can't help the feeling that I'm taking the shortcut instead of learning to do it properly.

how else would you do extreme color effects? you cant do that by hand.

if you do something like brightness/contrast change just try to paint around a little bit after you change it so you know what you did wrong.

If you don't know how to do it properly, then that means you don't have full control over it. An uncertainty will show through your work probably.
