So I drew this a few days ago, and I wanted to make someone who looked, I guess kind of "dark." Well basically a Yoshitaka Amano type look to it but alittle different. I think there is some work that needs to be done, and I was wondering if anyone can give advice or help on how too fix it. What can I do to improve this style? Also is there anything I did right in this that I should do again in the future? Please and thanks!

It's shit. Read the wiki.

It looks like you wanted to tilt the head, but the facial features aren't tilted enough for it to be noticeable. So it looks like everything is skewed and you didn't line everything up correctly. Neck looks too long, and hair doesn't go straight down from a part and flow like that. The way you drew the eyes is maybe the only thing I like. Going for a sharp triangular look instead of something round or oval is the only thing that gives a dark or threatening vibe that you were looking for.

>>1979why thank you, I like the eyes too. And Ill definitely keep this stuff in mind to improve on my future stuff. Once again thanks for the critique.
And does anyone else have anything to say?

Everything, OP. You need to fix everything. The wiki will explain how to start.

>>1979Is this any better? I tilted the head more, made the neck shorter, kept the eyes similar to the last because it worked well, made the hair flow more.
>>1989I read some of it and did some exercises of drawing 3d stuff. Anyways with this image I wanted to give it a more fantastical/cartoon look but still "dark" I guess.
>>2002I actually did something like that here lol.

Looks like you're drawing anime without even trying to understand the fundamentals behind it.
Even anime is based on real anatomy, it's just heavily stylized in certain ways according to the angle/perspective/distance and preference. When you draw an anime eye, you take the way it moves and functions and certain details of it from a real eye. There are certain "hotspots" that are very useful to remember so you can apply them to your own drawing in your own way, an example would be the sharp inner and outer edges and upper corner of eyelids.
It's very difficult to give advice that isn't just "learn what a real face looks like". Trying to fix up your anime is pointless since you're going to need to fix it again and again every time you change the angle or character.
If you're learning the result of stylization instead of how to stylize, you won't be able to draw on your own with a different context. In fact it will be difficult to even approach something you haven't already learned before, for instance a head from below.
That said, faces are probably the most complicated things to learn properly, because we look at faces throughout every day so we can easily recognize even the smallest differences.

Stop trying to draw stuff and start learning to draw instead. Reflect quietly about the difference between the two and report back in a week.

>>2007I wasnt really going for an anime look but I gave the face sharp edges because someone said it did give my last drawing a dark and threatning look. I guess thats why it may look anime. I was trying to make it in a similar style to Yoshitaka Amano (pic related)

dude you're posting this and asking for critique as if you're a serious artist, you need to study at least 1000 faces then try again, THEN come back and ask for critique, we can't help someone who does art once a year
