/boards/ is for finding/advertising boards.
Use the stickies to leave a "permanent" link to a board, but don't post duplicates in the stickies. You can also make a new thread for advertising a board. If you know of a cool board that isn't here, feel free to post it even if you didn't create it. Rules

Also check out the dynamic boards list.

I guess I just want a place for vidya that wasn't Mark's Whacky Zone, as I didn't browse enough /v/ to understand what triggered him and his crew enough to ban me. I also feel like outside of /svidya/, there is no relevant alternative to /v/ that isn't a meme board. /svidya/ is nice for what it is, but I can do without the forced serious discussions.

With /openv/ and /vidyagaems/ basically dead, I felt that there was a need for a long-term answer to /v/ and /svidya/. We have /am/ as a proper free alternative to /a/, but we are still lacking an open place to post video games that isn't a dead shitposting board. And don't get me wrong, I have nothing against funposting, in fact I encourage it if it is creative, but in the end I'm going to let you guys decide in what direction the board goes. It's all up to the users.

Without further ado, I introduce

>>>/vvv/

Check it out, like, rate, subscribe. Or just shitpost.

 No.6231

Like we needed another one.

First off, it's gonna be really hard to get this off the ground, I wish you luck.

Second: A large community is almost always shit. Try making a board for something you're really passionate about instead, maybe a specific genre or game series.

I understand that.

8chan is built around the principles of the free market, and seeing as how boards like /vidyagaems/ and /openv/ aren't really long term, I figured there might be some people who want a general video games alternative outside of genre-specific boards. If it doesn't work out, I'll trash it. There's no harm in trying, I think.

Between all the gamergate boards and popular vidya boards I've come to this conclusion: Nearly everyone who plays video games is retarded.

You aren't wrong, Anon. That's why these people can't be trusted to manage boards with hundreds of users like them. Instead I will hold power in this hub for a community to grow freely and never exercise it (the mod power, that is). Atleast this way the retardation doesn't turn into authoritarian retardation.

We cannot trust a heteronormatively gendered white male to hold the power over a bastion of the gaming community. We need to take into consideration marginalized identities to construct a true haven for gamers free from the influence of the anglopatriarchocapitalist hegemony that strangles the true expressive potential of interactive mediums.

It's not so much that it's that video games attract a few extremely loud and vocal retards who like to shitpost.

Look at feedbackv or old metav posts. Almost in every thread there is a faggot petitioning to ban video game threads, defending excessive dub or sage spam, or petitioning to have whole threads banned from the board for no other reason than their own opinion.

These people are in the minority, they're just loud as shit.

mark is a faggot that should be taken down a few pegs.

Look up his ban history to see how fair he is.
He seems to just ban people he disagrees with half the time.

If 8chan users wanted a faggot controlling what they can and cant say, they should have stayed on 4chan

i assume they are idiots that think along the lines of "if i disagree with the people getting banned its okay"
in which case they should have been okay with 4chan banning gamergate due to it being a movement which was in fact off topic

I feel the heavy spam that's been thrown around on the big boards lately is causing a negative backlash against freedom boards like /am/ and /vvv/.

What can you do?

 No.6956

It'll blow over. Boards like that will probably only ever grow through slow growth over time or a board crash of some sort. /vvv/ will be open to refugees should Mark ever lose his shit.

Not spam it everywhere like a faggot.

There is very little wrong with /v/ currently. /vvv/ is a shitty board as seen by the fact that the board owner spammed it SO fucking much on the related video games boards to the point they had to start word filtering it. and yet /vvv/ is STILL dead.

This is when a board like /svidya/ and the counterstrike and stalker boards get way more traffic than it, so it's not like /v/ being a big shot is to blame. What is to blame is the annoying cunts who post on it shill it everywhere and make people hate it.

You're like /b/ except worse.

Incorrect, I had nothing to do with the spamming, that was an individual user who I've tried to calm down. What can you do? Shilling on /v/ to the extent some people have is obviously grossly counter-productive. I'm disappointed in it.

In any case, bump.

Allow me to explain the word 'rulecuck':

Let's say you have a favorite board on 8chan, you love it and browse it every day. But there is a problem: other people browse the board too, and sometimes they post things you don't like!

You start to feel angry and jealous, jealous that you are too impotent to make your board exactly the way you'd like it to be. The replies that you get to your posts and threads only confirm your creeping suspicion: this board isn't your hugbox at all, it loves different types of users, and ideas completely different from your own!

Feeling desperate and inferior that you alone could not satisfy/direct the board you post on, you hire an autist with a bigger banhammer than you to do it for you. To come in and absolutely fuck your board for you since you don't have the power to do it yourself.

Who cares if you aren't allowed to have fun on your home board anymore? At least the Moderator is having fun swinging around his banhammer and turning the board into his hugbox!

If the mod tells you he wants to fuck your favorite board, or that he wants to fuck you, the rulecuck will bend over backward and do exactly what the mod says, no questions asked, because he believes the mod to be superior to him. "sure, I was banned" the rulecuck might argue, "but it was for the greater good. I didn't deserve to post that thing anyway."

Rulecuck is the perfect word to describe these people, and they subconsciously know it. That's why the word makes them so irrationally angry.

The rulecuck shit has done more to kill the idea of less moderation on 8chan than anything else. So fuck you.

If a person decided to oppose loose moderation because people were posting things he didn't like, he would have naturally opposed loose moderation at a later point anyway.

Regardless, it's tied to the drama conspiracy shit that led to people actually believing that some of the alt. boards were goons hideouts or whatever.

I agree that chan environments should have little to no rules due to their very nature, but the raiders that caused the /pol/ administration to collapse I don't agree with, because they are the sort of people that cause others to call for rules in the first place, and the word "rulecuck" is forever associated with them.
