Welcome to /evol/! Let the nubs be your guide.

This is a place to host evolution games, which is an image based game where one takes an image and changes it slightly. The new picture can either be a sub-species, or replace the main species. The rules are very loose and fun:

1) Take an image, alter it somehow, save as .PNG

2) Post the image with a short description on what has changed

That’s really it. We don’t expect everyone to be an amazing artist, that’s not what the game is about. The core of the game is to have fun and build up an imaginary world full of crazy creatures. Remember, there is no winning or losing, don’t get upset if someone takes a creature and evolves it in a way you don’t like, just go with it.

This thread can be used to ask any questions about how these games work. I will also be posting examples and previous games.

Alright. Here is something fun. I'm going to try to catalog all the Evolution games I have started. The first one goes back to may of 2011 on the Giant in the playground forums (all text-based);

I knew this question would come up eventually. For now, I want to keep things in the same universe. If we get enough players we could branch off into new worlds/mini-games. But I am not unkind and I love new blood in the mix.

I am fine with you starting a new game, but it has to be in the same world as the other 3, deal? It has been a tradition to start with 3 creatures (plants and fungi are also welcomed), but you may start with as many as you feel are necessary. A new biome would be nice as well.

So if I'm reading this right, anyone at any time can create a new game? I understand not wanting too many, so as not to spread our current population too thin, so what's the limit? I'm the guy that recently made the Blygir, and I'd love to start a thread with a really unique biome. I might get a trip soon.

Absolutely! Though, as you said, I do not want a flood of games going on. If your idea is unique, I want to do it. Also, try to make it synch up with the map thread, draw a tile on the map if something on there doesn't fit your needs.

My only rule is that it has to stay "in universe". All of these creatures stand the chance of meeting each other in a future game.
