I'm trying to build a cheap, versatile wardrobe from the bottom up. All I have are plain white tees, a couple work polos, awful baggy jeans, some baggy hoodies, a pair of work khakis – and I'm only slightly exaggerating.
I just ordered this stuff today. I figure it's a start at least. Can you guys give me a list of some basics or essentials that do a lot of heavy lifting in your wardrobe?
Short version: show me stuff that goes with anything

>Black/grey slim jeans>white tees>sneakersThat's the most basic i can think of.
Black and white items can usually go with everything else.

Black skinnies-Cheap and go with anything vaguely streetwear
Good pair of high-top sneakers- Converse, Vans sk8 His, ETQs, or something more expensive: these just pull together basic fits, and a flashy pair of sneaks makes basic bitch a lil more interesting
A versatile OCBD or button-down shirt- something that goes with most of your clothes, so you can just toss it on over whatever if you don't want to look poor/basic/whatever
Boots- same as sneakers with less flash and more of a menswear/milsurp look (depends on the boot ofc)
A good jacket (not a hoodie, like a blazer or parka)- something to toss over anything for dat layering aesthetic or if it's raining
Obvi you need more stuff, but this helps to up ur game a little if you don't want to look *exactly* like everybody else

>>1089Thanks for the detailed reply. Helpful stuff.
>>1096I've almost always worn "relaxed fit" jeans (if that's even a real term) so I'm not certain how slim or skinny is too skinny on me. I'll have to stop by a decent store next time I'm out and try some jeans.
Thanks /effay/.

Not OP, but how versatile are sk8 his as a black + white hi top shoe?
I've been thinking of copping these, but they seem like they are bordering the "Streetwear only" type of look, which I tend to gravitate more towards basic bitch shit with nice outerwear.
I need a gud hitop for Winter that will go with most things easily. That's why I like black and white shoes.

>>1115I have them, they are pretty good, pretty basic.
Not only streetwear, you can use them with almost any casual fit, just like converse.

>>1089 is the essentials, but if you really wanna be fashionable, one of the best things is get your own style. that usually depends on what you think looks cool. clothes make the man/woman, so get clothes you think are nice and are comfortable.

you cant go wrong with grey/black/white. Pretty much the only thing you can't get away with going poverty-core on are shoes- shitty H&M knock off shoes will ruin every fit
And listen to what that other anon was saying and get the slim jeans, if not skinny. I used to wear relaxed/straight too when I was a pleb but once you go slim youll never go back- way comfier than baggy jeans that constantly chafe your legs
