OP here.
>>1914>Was I [thoughtful and constructive], bitch?Yes! Thanks.
>>1905>What is fashion? The human culture surrounding clothing and other worn products.
>What is the role of clothing in your life?Firstly, clothing protects my body from environmental elements such as low temperatures, sunlight, disagreeable terrain, soil and wind. Secondly, clothing helps me perform various activities such as sport, work and travel. Thirdly, clothing covers my genitals, as such coverage is legally demanded of New York citizens in most areas. Fourthly, clothing allows me to attract or repel certain people, depending on what I wear and how I wear it. Fifthly and lastly, clothing allows me to express myself artistically and culturally.
>Are some pieces 'better' than others? Why?Not inherently, no. However, I hold certain pieces above others in my selection of clothing, based on my incomplete and subjective judgement of a piece's material choice and source, textile quality and source, construction style and quality, colour palette, how the piece fits me, utility value and artistic expression. Generally, if I'm buying a used piece, I put less emphasis on the source-related aspects (i.e. where it came from) and more on the other considerations.
>What is the relationship between 'form' and 'function'?The two must be in harmony for the piece to be excellent, even insofar as the source of the constituent materials and the persons employed to assemble those materials into the piece. If 'function' is what you want from the piece, this should include how the piece came to you. Furthermore, function can include such desired outputs as 'get me laid', 'impress the members of my workplace' or 'let people know what my favourite animu is', outputs which are often misconstrued as questions of form. Form, in my opinion, is function realised. If you design form before designing function, you will make a disharmonious and consequently subpar piece.
>Please try to be thoughtful and constructive.Up yours, OP.
