Ok /fa/ Since the rules on the board include no shitposting and constructive criticism, maybe I can finally get some help. I'm a beginner, and poor, with winter coming up now is a good chance to begin a wardrobe but it's hard for me to know what cheap quality clothes to buy. I currently own, a grey, white and blue shirt, brown and blue chinos, a dark brown leather belt and some light brown boots. Rec me some cheap clothes to pick up right away that will give me a good foundation for winter, and maybe some other poor anons will find it helpful too, especially with people starting college/uni now.

live at thrift stores in your free time until you cop enough sweaters and coats to get you through the winter

There isn't a single thrift store where I live, thats the problem. I'm not full on poverty mode, I have enough money to order decentish is clothes online, but I've got to be selective and for example spending anything above £50 is a treat

Uniqlo, H&M, and GAP have good basics for beginners.

You seriously don't have any charity shops or anything near you?
Well for cheap coats and stuff, I would say look into military surplus because you can get decent jackets and parkas meant for Arctic winters for super cheap

professional poorboy here.
for jeans, levis is great bang for yer buck. you may want to cop the 30 dollar "denim" at h&m, but you'll buy three of those before your 70 dollar levis wear out. they aren't the best, but a great staple. 511s or 510s are rad.
have like six solid white, grey, or black tees for all the time. coloured ones work too, but just having some solid tees for combining w stuff is great. I cycle thru about eight diff basic h&m tees (these are like six bucks and actually worth it, easy to replace plus you can get em trashed and it doesn't matter) not including a few graphic ones I've thrifted/acquired.
for sweaters/jackets, thrift thrift thrift! cheap sweaters are always fake af fibers and will make you hate urself. get some real wool shit thrifting. same for jackets, good ones end up in thrift stores just a lil bit worn in. a note on thrifting, you have to go frequently to find good stuff. try shit on (get over it) and have a gameplan (eg I need a light jacket and a dark sweater) or else you'll buy some useless costumey shit.
I thrift button downs/flannels etc, but the best place for new ones is department store sales. the fits are worse, but they are way better made than fast fashion ones.
for shoes, thrift leather boots/shoes cause they can often be good quality. I don't generally thrift sneakers, they are rarely given away unless they are shit. buy like one pair of sturdy sneakers (stan smiths are good cheap ones) and try and thrift some boots or sumn to supplement your sneaks.
good luck, bruh. poorboi game is all about creep. don't rapidly expand your wardrobe or you'll cheap out on stuff. slowly identify your needs and fill them out.
