I've been using Notepad++ for a few years now and I'd like to step up my game when it comes to Windows text editors. This is just for regular plain text notes, as I have better alternatives for when it comes to coding.

Well, GVim and GNU Emacs are available for windows, too. Lots of people also like Code::Blocks and MinGW for C and C++.

So I guess it also depends what programming language you want to use, and whether or not the editor supports syntax highlighting for your language and stuff.
