I want to recommend Linux Mint to my family as an alternative to Windows 10. Are there any real problems with it as an operating system, aside from it being "too easy"? Which is the best desktop. I've been using it with MATE for a few months now and I'm fairly satisfied.

Aside from the compatibility issues with windows programs, it's pretty risk free. Unless you have a family that's into gaming or using very specific software for things like work, I'd say go for it.
