I remember when I was growing up I would often hear different women say "well now that they are getting married she will settle him down" and other things similar to this. If the young guy enjoyed his muscle car and going to the races on the weekends then somehow he was not a man but a boy. Unless that man was married and had a hobby that was wife approved then he was still considered a boy.

I remember watching my sister do this to my brother in-law. For the most part she did her best to cut him off from his friends, discourage the hobbies he enjoyed. Isolation from the things he enjoyed in life to ensure that she was in control of his pleasure and happiness. My father on the other hand was a bit different, he just did what he wanted to do and don't you dare question it. His attitude was "When you pay the bills you can do what you want" and he did live by that. This is why I was going fishing with him since I was 4 years old and hunting since I was 5. I remembered the joy of him coming home after being on a 3 or 5 day deep sea fishing trip and pawing over all the fish he caught.

By today's standards my father would have been considered a "Peter Pan" guy. About the only changes he made in his life were changes that was to protect me from myself, for example he stopped loading his own ammo not too long after I was born.

The thing is that women of today have become so damn narcissistic that if they are not the center of your world then something is wrong. They cannot accept the fact that the man in their life may have outside interest. Trying to explain this rationally is only met with a brick wall of denial. In order to cover up for this short-coming women often resort to shaming tactics.

With some men this is an effective tactic, after all question his manhood and he will try and prove otherwise. If the man has any sort of an I.Q. beyond babbling out "yes maam", then this tactic is ineffective. To put it another way, if the man has a huge ego, then yes shaming will work. However if the man is confident, then shaming will not work at all.
