Anyone remember the 1940 when an American man had to die for women fighting the nazis and the japs, while the women were back at home shagging the milk man?

In the past, traditionalism gave every man and women specific roles fixed to their gender: they would get married, he would provide for her, she would serve him and squeeze out babies for him. Now a man like my self who does not want to provide for some bitch nor wants babies would be consider disgusting even then: everyone was expected to fit into their given role, and anyone that disagreed would be ostracized or worse.

Sure, men had certain duties, but in order to repay the social benefits of being able to safely inhabit a land with crops, fruits and plants, a forest to cut trees from, room for keeping animals, military protection from armed enemies, arms and training to cooperate in strategic defense when said enemy threatened to take away your property (and offense for new lands to inhabit) etc.

Pre-1000 years ago the chance of a man dying in war or via murder was ~15%. Today it is less then 1/100th that.

Very rarely, in the time of feudalism you were either a lord or a surf, bound to your lord's land, even merchants. Not many had a chance at being a monk and you had to be well born to even get into a monastery.
