Americans deserve better!

>In March of 2014 Sanders organized a subcommittee to examine in depth the differences in life expectancy across the United Sates as a direct result of varying poverty levels.

>Some of the findings reported that almost as many people die from poverty as from lung cancer.

>Life expectancy was also shown to have decreased over the past 20 years in 313 U.S. counties,

>and the United States has 6 million more people in poverty today than it did in 2004.

>Sanders’ campaign website lists some alarming figures about overall U.S. poverty as well as child poverty on an international scale. According to the site, 46.5 million Americans live below the poverty line making that figure the largest in U.S. history.

>In addition to this number, Sanders’ website cites a 21.8 percent child poverty rate, the “highest of any major country on earth.” It is important to distinguish here that by “major country,” he is referring to all countries part of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OCED).

https://archive.is/ec2ab

> But living in poverty is stressful, and that stress can have a cumulative effect that shows later in life.

>“It degrades you physically in a lot of ways,” says Leech. “It increases your susceptibility to a lot of chronic diseases … it plays a role in hypertension. But also for young kids, it affects neurological development.”

>Stress is also linked to unhealthy habits, such as smoking and overeating, which are in turn linked to cancer, obesity and heart disease – America’s biggest killers.

>Fixing these life expectancy gaps isn’t as simple as telling people to eat better or exercise more. Leech says it will require addressing the underlying inequalities between neighborhoods.

>“People in our cities are living in completely different societies, and we decide if we’re okay with that,” she says. “And if we’re not, then we have to do something and it has to be big and it’s going to take all of us.”

>We say our goodbyes, and I continue down the trail to 10th Street, where life expectancy drops to 71. I get off the trail at the end, right by the highway. It smells like exhaust, and there’s not a jazz musician in sight.

https://archive.is/hk1cg

In England

>The model output is more optimistic than official figures. By 2030, life expectancy is predicted to reach 85·7 years (95% credible interval 84·2–87·4) for men and 87·6 years (86·7–88·9) for women. >The sex gap would be reduced to just 1·9 years as mortality is likely to continue to improve more for middle-aged and old men than it will for women

Most jobs that you apply for, rather than are recruited for, are either part time because the company or individual cannot afford mandatory health care for full-time workers, or pay a low wage with nothing for the way of promotion opportunities. Where I live, there's basically two call centers that pay better than any other job in the area, but they're hell to work at, and still don't pay a living wage, making cohabitation a mandate.

>>105609

Indeed, but people don't believe that it's possible to never be called back after applying to EVERYWHERE, due to the absolute glut of available workers. All the people who got perma-laid-off from the steel plants and related industries haven't died off just yet, and who would you hire? Joe who worked 25 years at the steel plant, or Joe who worked two weeks at Taco Bell?

That would depend highly on the job.

You can't pay someone 5$/hour if he has colleagues around him that do the same job in the same amount of time for 10$/hour.

You'd hurt your company and product quality in the long term if you have unjustifiable wagegaps like this.

Sad but true. It was designed to happen this way by the illegal Amnesty EO Obama signed. The courts blocked it due to it being a threat to national security … but the Obama regime continues to keep the borders wide open. They don't even listen to the laws or courts anymore, the govt has become an executive dictatorship that does what-ever the hell they please.

Expect the United States to become a third world country, very soon.

With that blunt fact said, I don't trust Hillary nor do I trust Bernie, nor do I trust establishment republicans either, to fix anything. They will continue to exploit us until we no longer have any wealth, they then will leave this country to wallow in it's own shit hole.

You can't solve poverty by spreading it around.

People like to act as if Rand Paul is the most pro-freedom anti-Jewish-corporatocratic candidate like hisfather was, but he welcomes money from them and therefore his campaigns exist because they ultimately approve his agenda. I can understand arguments against increased government power, but a powerful government controlled by citizens is much more Free than a weak government and economy controlled by corporate elites and their hired hounds in senators' skins. Sanders is as honest as Ron Paul aboutwhat he believes, and that's what the world needs - somebody in a position of influence that isn't bought.

Bernie Sanders is focusing on the REAL problem

All these other problems are not the real problem, rape culture, police brutality, gay marriage, etc, etc, nothing, NOTHING!

We need Basic Income Guarantee, we need free education, we need Social security converted to citizen stock portfolios.

Automation is ending most jobs! The rich are richer then ever before, the middle class is shrinking, people are working harder and harder just to make ends meet. More are giving up because there is nothing for them.

We need to educate and retool most of the work force towards jobs that bring meaning to life. Not 9-5 making fucking burgers or picking fruit just to make enough money to survive! Not is not living!

 No.108715

The poor's quality of life is not the real problem. Their opportunity to rise above poverty vanishing is the real problem.

I grew up around poor people and a lot of them deserve poverty and everything that comes with it. As long as the people who aren't garbage can rise above poverty, I quite frankly couldn't care less how bad the poor have it.

 No.108737

>>108715

>Their opportunity to rise above poverty vanishing is the real problem.

Correct. That is a real problem.

Most American jobs have been outsourced due to 1) a massive increase of regulations over the years; 2) the increasing fines that come with those regulations if businesses don't comply and 3) the lucrative corruption of politics in general which puts hardworking Americans at a disadvantage.

Since the late 70s we've started to see massive pressures put on corporations and small businesses. Their incentives to keep jobs in America declined rapidly after that. Most of these corporations looked at second and third world countries like China and India as "safe-havens" from regulations / tax increases as well because of the slave labor. THIS has gutted our opportunity to rise above poverty!

What I don't like about (modern) liberals is that they don't seem to understand this concept. You have to maintain *profitable incentives to create jobs … but regulations, quite frankly, are the OPPOSITE. Therefore, you loose jobs to other nations with *profitable incentives (meaning countries with less tax / less regulations)!

One of the biggest mistakes of a *REPUBLICAN president was the creation of the EPA. Sorry to hurt you're feelings environmentalists, but it's true.

 No.108751

>>108737

> liberals

This word means nothing other than "people with political opinions I don't like". Unless you're quoting someone or organization don't just mass label people with opinions.

>creation of the EPA

Do you propose any alternatives? Environmentalism isn't just some hippy shit, you need to protect where you live if you want to keep living there. If you kill all the animals, destroy the soil, poison the ground water, then you can't live somewhere. If america had no environmental protections then corporations would have made the whole country a literal shithole with pollution.

 No.108769

>>108751

The EPA ain't as clean as you expect, there is a lot of corruption and problems with handling pollution/waste caused by the EPA as there is with corporations. An example:

http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/aug/07/environmental-workers-spill-a-million-gallons-of-waste-into-colorado-river

I'm not promoting pollution, in fact I believe there needs to be some basic laws that limit pollution. The problem is too many laws / regulations reduce *profitable incentives to create American jobs. Thus you have a growing loss of jobs due to outsourcing. These regulations / laws / fines, ever since the creation of the EPA, have overwhelmingly increased and continue to bankrupt smaller American businesses.

If we just blow these facts off, we will NEVER EVER see a recovery of jobs.

 No.108895

>>108853

Creating more regulations is not going to prevent them from doing this. Furthermore … the cost of policing these regulations (they have to hire federal employees to police all these regulations) is going to cost the public via taxes. Plus, as mentioned before, the lack of *profitable incentives always leads to either outsourcing jobs … or worse … bankruptcy.

By now, sadly, the only jobs that are being created are part-time, often temporary work. That, and federal employment because the government is always expanding.

Meanwhile, you can kiss the middle class goodbye in the near future.

>>108864

>a big fat bureaucracy can always be manipulated and used by large international corporate giants

It always is, one of the major loopholes IS outsourcing jobs. Plus, corporations also have to sell a lot of resources / assets to big fat bureaucracy in order for them to keep paper-pushing. Most of these sold resources/assets are imported into the country, rather than made in the country.

It's like this: the people pushing for more and more regulations often have it their way. There are always an increasing amount of regulations. Then .. they're still not satisfied … "something is still wrong here." So they call for more … and they get more. But nothing is getting better … jobs are still being lost … poverty is still increasing. … Well?

Every human being, I don't care how lazy, deserves a roof over their heads and enough food to survive, they deserve access to information and free education, they deserve the chance to make something of value of themselves, as how they define value, not you or I define value. We have the technology and economy to make that happen, all we need is the appropriate systems.

The solution to poverty is to improve education and place disincentives that prevent people from under a certain income from having children.

Improving education is simply a matter of money. More money–in the hands of competent administration–will equal a better learning environment as school will benefit from better maintenance, and a security presence. The working environment will improve, which will attract teachers from private school. Higher pay for teachers will increase the number of qualified applicants, resulting in a better selection of teachers.

The government can tax people based on how many children they have. It makes sense to do so, people with children use public services that people with no children do not use, such as public schools.

Additionally, the government should subsidize birth control, abortion, and adoption services for those under a certain income threshold.

The minimum working age should be in increased to 18 years old, to prevent high school drop outs.

Lastly, the government should actively promote students learning a trade out of school, rather than going to a university. We have too many know-nothings with no job experience and a diploma, unable to find a job with insurmountable debt. America needs to return to producing things besides information.

 No.110937

And to clarify, the child tax will be tolled regardless of income.

We should also cease income-related benefits targeted for children.

What Sanders supported here is that if somebody kills or injures somebody with a gun, the victim or their family should not be able to sue the person who manufactured the gun, in the same way you don't sue the manufacturer of a brick if somebody crushed somebodies head in with a brick, or sue the manufacture of a shoe if I take my shoe off and beat you with it.

The author wrote "If I crash my Prius because its accelerator malfunctions, I can sue Toyota for negligently manufacturing a faulty pedal." That is of course not at all the same thing as, say, suing Toyota because somebody ran you over with a Toyota car during a road rage incident.

Sanders is just another big-government stooge capitalizing on Hillary's unpopularity.

He brings nothing new to the table, and after the last 8 years of 'progressive' nonsense I'm not voting for another Democrat.

Maybe ever.

The Republicans aren't any prize, but at least you know that going in.

The Democrats are still pretending they're still for labor, equal rights, and justice, when the reality is they're just as susceptible to cronyism as any Republican.

The ONLY thing Sanders has going for him as far as I'm concerned is he's come out against the TPP, but we'll see how long that lasts.

The rest of the Democrats are for big business, identity politics, and outright corruption.

The fact that they're still considering Hillary in spite of her tanking polls and that e-mail scandal that isn't going away says all I care to know about the current state of affairs at DNC headquarters.

Oh, and to the people whinging about a 'living wage' I suggest you take a look at the places that have instituted the $15 per hour pay rate, employers are cutting hours and laying people off left and right.

McDonald's is considering automation.

>Bernie's voted in favor of every gun ban and restriction that's ever crossed his desk.

That's demonstrably untrue.

He's vote for too many gun control measures for me to trust him, but he's hardly voted for all of them. By liberal Democrat standards he's practically a gun nut.

Still, Jim Webb is much better on that issue if you happen to be a registered Democrat in an early primary state.

>By liberal Democrat standards he's practically a gun nut.

He voted against the Brady Bill. That being said, he still agreed with it's goals. He just thought the states could handle the provisions outlined in it better that the federal government.Faint praise indeed.

He voted in favor of the AWB, expanded background checks and is in favor banning semi-automatic weapons and of a national firearms registry in spite of the fact that IT WOULD NOT IMPACT CRIME OR CRIMINALS ONE IOTA.

Fucks sake Canada had a registry for years and it did fuckall beyond costing a lot of money for no measurable return.

They scrapped it for a reason.

That's right CANADA SCRAPPED IT'S NATIONAL GUN REGISTRY SCHEME BECAUSE IT DOES NOT WORK.

Jim Webb's okay, but he's got a bishop's chance in Hell of getting nominated.

Guy can't even handle a few crazy fucks with a hashtag, the fuck is he going to do when an actual billion dollar ceo or dictator with an urge to genocide starts trying to tell him what to do?

If you act weak, you are weak. Look at that poor bastard, waiting his turn to get his mic back. Fucking pathetic. You'd have to be insane to want this guy in charge of nation.

What's he going to do when the next terrorist decides to shoot up a place or bomb it? Ask them to apologize?

You've never been to a meeting I see. In the cult of substance abuse treatment people are considered lifelong addicts no matter what they do so they can keep them paying dues and shelling out for SSRIs indefinitely. In fact, you can even be an "addict" without even ever having used any sort of illegal or prescription drugs.
