If you take hard realist view on language, mathematics, and sciences then it is kind of irrelevant how cultures interact at a language level. Sure, over long-time periods the language changes, they borrow concepts, and concepts can change depending upon interaction with reality. But some of them are all referring to the same thing. Sure, geographic borders are somewhat arbitrary, but the people dwelling in them are still somewhat "close" in a vague population sense. While their might be slight genetic deviations and cultural deviations between certain European locations, there is still a sense of closeness when compared to others "far" away. And Putnam has shown that placing people from a "far" location, with a different set of culture, norms, and genetics, en masse seriously undermines society and politics.
