I got fed up and told them, I want another blood test and this time, I want to see the vitamin D results. Turns out they oops made a mistake, I have dangerously low vitamin D levels.

I'm not American, but here in Australia we pretty much have the same dream - meet a girl, get married, buy a home, have children. That's what all 4 of my grandparents were seeking when they left Germany/Poland (paternal side) and France (maternal side) back in the 1950s and arrived in Australia.

My grandparents each had 5 kids, with the man going to work while the mother stayed at home. They bought big blocks of land on which they could grow their own vegetables, and didn't spend innumerable hours at work - time was always made to enjoy family activities.

Looking at my own parents, there was still some resemblance of how things were done in the past when I came along in the early 1980s. We had a much smaller block of land, but it was still only my dad that worked and my mum who stayed home to look after my brother and I. We had cousins to play with, although the extended family had gotten smaller compared to the previous generation. Despite being smaller, things cost more time and money, but there was still time to do family things and owning a home was in reach.

Now that all my cousins and people I went to school with are into our 30s, I can tell you that most don't have kids, and if married, both partners are working full time to service a massive debt on a house that is so small that it no longer includes a backyard. I guess that doesn't matter though because no-one has kids because they simply can't afford it, and the ones that do have kids have one which they have to stick into childcare so that the mother can return to work ASAP because the mortgage is due and it's expensive as fuck. We're all just drones, no time for family at all and you work for a pittance.

Some people like my brother have just dropped out entirely. Lives with my parents, no girlfriend, no kids, no assets, no nothing. Yet apparently our generation are the best educated because he has a university degree and the prior generations did not even finish school.

I have a job, and my girlfriend and I rent, both of us work, and there is just no prospect of us being able to buy a home because job security cannot be relied upon and to buy within 1-2 hours travel time to work would cost us 750k AUD.

And yet my grandparents managed to have much more for much less money and time.

I am constantly depressed at my situation, it's futile for me to go to work because I am working towards NOTHING. I have a good girlfriend but I can tell she's not happy either being early 30s with no kids and is forced to ignore what's left of her maternal instinct so that we can afford to have our bills paid and eat.

A lot of people blame women, but it is men who duped them into giving up motherhood and going into careers. Men kicked that off. The people that forced a wedge between men and women resulting in the abandonment of traditional roles have turned both man and woman into serfs.

I hate my life. I don't need nor want medication to dull that pain though because what I feel is normal given the circumstances.

Maybe bitterness for failing me internally because all they did was provide external things.

It's weird to see how conditioned people are. If you take a 13 year old who blows him up, he's a victim for indoctrination, but if he's 5 years older, he's at fault since "common sense*" should hinder him.

I'm glad I'm not the only one noticing this. Take ancient Egypt: for most of its history, slaves were used mainly as house servants, with a few exceptions of slaves working in mines (not common, but we're talking about a few millennia of history).

I know that feel. I couldn't even get my first job until I was 21, after 3 years straight unemployment.

So I went to the top and threatened to leave because if I go through all that and get fuck all and some bitch who doesn't last a month gets more, why should I stick around?

Now the good news Then all of a sudden I got that slight contract increase to 15 hours a week too.

Then a new vacancy opened up, I was the first to apply vs the same girl I mentioned who was always late, and I made it very clear if she got it I'd leave because I'm the one who skips his breaks to finish the workload, I'm the one who's never been late, absent, sick, never takes holiday, and do the most overtime. Not her.

I got the new vacancy and they accepted my request to add the new hours with my old hours. I'm on 30 hours a week now, up from 12 originally. 39 hours is full-time at my workplace so to know I just jumped up to just 9 hours shy of full-time is the first good news I've had with any employment at all.

My pay instantly jumped from £360 ($524) a month, to £1200 a month ($1748 a month).

I definitely had to put in way more effort to get this than my parents would've had to, to get their equivalent of a job promotion back then.

Back in my parent's days, you could go outside and play, engage in wrestling and fights and it was all for fun. Both of the grandparents had single worker households and owned a nice car and a nice house. The very thing that made us kids was stripped away back then, and in turn replaced with standardized testing of some bar to hopefully prove that we were smart.

I never got the chance to go outside and play. I remember pretty much for close to 7 years being stuck indoors with nobody else to talk to where I wasted my childhood away playing The Sims.

I was stripped of my childhood by the system, even before I realized it years later.

It wasn't until college I actually realized how fucked up it all was.

I got a chance to talk to various students about college, and found most of them are hopelessly in debt. Using the skills I learned about computers, I made some pocket change as a freelancer working on repairing systems.

This was, and still is the only income I could find.

Despite being an award winning researcher at one of the top universities in the country and in one of the best majors in the country, I still cannot get accepted to a job. I've applied and applied and applied to various places, been to career fairs and the best opportunity I get is working for free for someone else.

My family after the 2008 crisis suffered, where a lot of the old members who held the glue passed on leaving dysfunctional families. Financially we're also doing very poor as well, as due to the lack of income I can't afford much often skipping meals and we're one emergency away from losing all of the money and becoming homeless.

The whole system is bullshit. I want to have a family of my own, but I can't afford that nor can I even afford the costs of living myself despite working 9 hour shifts a day for 6 days a week. I busted my ass to get where I am and I still don't have a job, a house, a girlfriend (a girl doesn't want a man with no money), a ruined childhood, a dysfunctional family all wrapped up in a dead city that has been claiming it's still alive despite the industry leaving for other countries during my parent's lifetimes.

I know. I've done it before, it's the reason I get the ability to work with so many different people of different backgrounds. The main issue here comes from the fact the city is dead and buried while the few old enough to remember it insist it's still as good.

I'm desperately trying to find a job I can do, I have for a year. I've only actually gotten two jobs I was qualified for while the others asked for some ridiculous level of entry impossible for a researcher in academia moving on. Here is my take on this: the best alternative is to build a different system that is actually more competitive than the one already existing, that it might eventually take it over. The current system is feeding a lot of parasites, can't we just cut them off? One could start from a basic community and agriculture, using the produce for the community with a different standard, maybe even a different form of currency, and selling the rest for money to reinvest in the community. I have severe depression, I'm medicated with Celexa and Stratera because they're the only thing that helps me ignore the fact that everything is shit. I've been a NEET for three years, I'm on Ontario Disability Support Program, and (was) diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome.

High school was hell, a constant onslaught of fucking worksheets that made the majority of your mark regardless of how well you did on tests. My parents tried desperately to haggle with the school board to be more lenient or try to teach me in a more friendly manner, they were told that eveything was on track; that despite my high intellect and abysmal marks everything was ok, because as soon as I graduated or quit I'd be put on disability or shoved in some group home. They had zero expectations of me, they chewed me up and were ready to spit me out and leave me for dead. It's humiliating that I'm pretty much where they expected me to be at this point.

I tried to get a job, I tried so hard, but there's barely any jobs at all, let alone one that would be accommodating for my difficulties. I've done community service, therapy, day groups, and I always slump back into my vegetative state of complacency.

I'm smart, I love science, given the opportunity I think secondary education would re-invigorate me, give some fucking passion back to my life. Geology, nuclear science, astronomy; I'm getting teary just thinking about it. Of course, I can't do that, university costs fucking money and I haven't got any opportunity to make any. Not to mention the fact that every campus is a battleground for political correctness, and if I dared step out of line someone could accuse a loner creep like myself of rape or something. I'm an easy target.

So, I guess here I am. That's my perspective on this shit. People forget that kids with autism grow up and end up in my situation, after all the fucking social workers I'm left doing chores around my parent's house and festering in my own regret. Thanks gubmint, thanks TVDSB. You really brought me to my full potential.

It isn't much, but it might keep your mind occupied and working at subjects you enjoy.

You guys remind me of myself so much sometimes that it convinces me of collective unconscience in the Jungian sense. The hivemind always existed. It was just never written down until this past decade.
