>Eliminating worn-out cells extends the healthy lives of lab mice — an indication that treatments aimed at killing off these cells, or blocking their effects, might also help to combat age-related diseases in humans.

>Mice whose senescent cells were killed off over six months were healthier, in several ways, than a control group of transgenic mice in which these cells were allowed to build up. Their kidneys worked better and their hearts were more resilient to stress, they tended to explore their cages more and they developed cancers at a later age. Eliminating senescent cells also extended the lifespans of the mice by 20–30%,

>Two species of tiny fungi from Antarctica survived an 18-month exposure to Mars-like conditions aboard the International Space Station, according to the study, which was published last month in the journal Astrobiology.

>he researchers studied two species of microscopic fungus, Cryomyces antarcticus and C. minteri, that were collected from Antarctica's McMurdo Dry Valleys — one of the most Mars-like environments on Earth. These fungi are "cryptoendolithic," meaning that they live within rock cracks.

>It might be relatively easy for life to evolve on hospitable planets throughout the universe, but very hard for it to get any kind of a foothold, a new study suggests.

>in the first 500 million years or so of a wet, rocky planet's life, for example, it will be too hot and heavily bombarded to support life. Life could emerge over the next 500 million years, as the planet cools and the impact rates settle down a bit.

>In the first 500 million years or so of a wet, rocky planet's life, for example, it will be too hot and heavily bombarded to support life. Life could emerge over the next 500 million years, as the planet cools and the impact rates settle down a bit.

>During that time, however, the planet will probably be losing its liquid water, perhaps as the result of a runaway greenhouse effect (as occurred on Venus), or perhaps because it got too cold. There's a good chance that the planet will end up shifting from habitable to uninhabitable, as Venus and Mars apparently did, by roughly 1 billion to 1.5 billion years after its formation — unless life gets going fast enough to stabilize things, Chopra and Lineweaver say.

>I take a different approach. When I talk about AI, I typically don't talk about a well-defined matter. Rather, I describe the AI that I would like to have as "a machine that has cognitive abilities comparable to that of a human."

>why I think the engineering approach to "human level cognition" – that is, writing smart algorithms to solve a particularly well-defined problem – isn't going to get us where we want to go. But then what is?

>We can't wait for cognitive- and neuroscience, behaviour biology or psychology to figure out what the brain does and how it works. Even if we wait, these sciences will not come up with a simple algorithm explaining the human brain.

>What we do know is that the brain wasn't engineered with a simple modular building plan in mind. It was cobbled together by Darwinian evolution – an opportunistic mechanism governed by the simple rule that whoever makes more viable offspring wins the race.

>An element that is less radioactive and produces less nuclearwaste than uranium is inching closer towards becoming an alternative fuel for nuclear energy.

>Carlo Rubbia, one of the world’s top nuclear experts, said that one of the main reasons why the United States cut research on thorium in the 1970s is part of what makes it so attractive today — thorium is difficult to turn into a bomb. It is also about three or four times more abundant than uranium and produces roughly 200 times more energy than its cousin.

>Last year, his group famously demonstrated that it could use a 3D-printed “lower” for an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle—but the gun failed after six rounds. Now, after some re-tooling, Defense Distributed has shown that it has fixed the design flaws and a gun using its lower can seemingly fire for quite a while. (The AR-15 is the civilian version of the military M16 rifle.)

>The lower, or "lower receiver" part of a firearm, is the crucial part that contains all of the gun's operating parts, including the trigger group and the magazine port. (Under American law, the lower is what's defined as the firearm itself.) The AR is designed to be modular, meaning it can receive different types of “uppers” (barrels) as well as different-sized magazines.

Researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) produced the first helium plasma in the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator last December. Since then, they have cleaned the plasma vessel with many more helium discharges. On 3 February they produced a hydrogen plasma in the world's biggest and most advanced stellarator-type nuclear fusion device for the first time. Thomas Klinger, Director at the IPP, talks about the special features of the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator and its structure, and the prospects for the construction of a fusion power plant.

2bba8c No.4856855

The problem with you and with space elevator isn't that you aren't smart enough to have interesting things to say, it's that you aren't smart enough to realize that generic articles about random scientific studies belong on a science board, not a politics board. At least everyone knows the stupid shit like flat-earth threads are spam and bait. Space-elevator-worshipers honestly think that this stuff belongs here. If you aren't smart enough to understand the distinction between politics and science, I don't put much weight behind what scientific articles you find important.

Because these threads generally do have some interesting things in them, it hurts the rest of pol because people post here instead of actual political threads. At least the spammers and baiters get some points for making people reply. That's why you get grief. You are baiting replies, but are too dumb to even know that's what you are doing.

It would be like posting a video game general thread on pol, assuming a lot of pol played that game. Youd get replies, people would be interested, but it wouldn't belong here. Video game threads belong on v, do they not?

There's some overlap with all topics here, so long as the thread is about the political aspect of said topic, whether science or sports or entertainment, etc.

"Actor X says 9-11 was an inside job". Would be fine.

" Red Carpet Elevator presents 20 Hollywood tabloid articles" would not.

If you do not understand how science effects politics, then you don't know anything about anything. It wasn't politics or even war that made slavery obsolete. It was the Industrial Revolution. Science and technology made manual labor less efficient than machine labor.

Not even an Emperor Trump can break the power of the muslim jihadist oil sheiks. But a breakthrough in thorium or fusion power will. Making oil obsolete would completely change the balance of power in the entire world.

So Spacex is already making significant modifications to their rockets based on the data they've got from examining their returned first stage. They're delaying their launch by a few weeks and saying it's going to increase reliability on the ascent, people are speculating that it has something to do with the turbopump.

This shows that even without a reflying the stage, simply getting a rocket back in one piece provides an immense amount of data to improve future rockets.

Um.. we're getting some weird radio transmissions from your planet. Woah! Hey! What the fuck's wrong with you?! You know about genetics and you're letting the stupid people breed? You have how many billions who can't take care of themselves? What the fuck, man?! What the fuck?! Okay fuck it we're invading, our Von Neumanns'll be at Jupiter and the asteroid belt to start cloning themselves, see you motherfuckers in a few centuries, try not to nuke yourselves before then…"

Biochem fag with big plans here. A while ago (more than 4 months but less than a year) I came across an article in a space elevator thread and I haven't been able to track it down again. It was about a hard synthetic material or media that did not cause an inflammatory response when interacting with human cells. It was considered a big step forward in bionic prosthesis, because under ordinary circumstances you can't just wire in a bunch of circuitry and plastic into nerve cells and mount a machine on a stump without any inflammatory response.

I'm trying to put together a general outline of what specific technologies need to be invented or further developed in order to develop an artificial uterus, and that article would be useful.

Humans as Superorganisms:

How Microbes, Viruses, Imprinted Genes and Other Selfish Entities Shape Our Behavior

>Psychologists and psychiatrists tend to be little aware that: (a) microbes in our brain and gut

are capable of altering our behavior; (b) viral DNA that was incorporated into our DNA

millions of years ago is implicated in mental disorders; (c) many of us carry the cells of

another human in our brains; and (d) under the regulation of virus-like elements, the

paternally-inherited and maternally-inherited copies of some genes compete for domination

in the offspring, on whom they have opposite physical and behavioral effects. This paper

provides a broad overview, aimed at a wide readership, of the consequences of our

coexistence with these selfish entities. The overarching message is that we are not unitary

individuals but superorganisms, built out of both human and non-human elements; it is their

interaction that determines who we are.

>The authors gave mice a traditional Japanese medicine called rikkunshito or an extract from rikkunshito to stimulate hormone production. In three different mouse lines—two with shortened lifespans and another with a normal lifespan—the treatment resulted in the animals living longer.

They have a large, dense population, and their terrain is easily defensible islands and jungles. They also straddle the Indian Ocean - Pacific Ocean trade route. The only thing stopping them from becoming a superpower is their lack of development, so I don't think that this is that far fetched given a few decades and some smart investments.

Their biggest obstacle to development will be the internal turmoil their country has, with hardline Muslims wanting to restrict the non-Muslim populations and West Papua wanting its independence. The power of the military in government affairs is also a dangerous issue that will need to be overcome.

As for Thorium itself, Indonesia has enough to get themselves started and the nearby nations of India, Australia and Malaysia are on cordial terms and control a huge amount of the world's Thorium.

Listen up you fucking newfaggots. /pol/ is the place for news, politics, history, racial issues, and world events. It is not whatever the fuck you seem to think it is. Space elevator threads are about science news. They're news whether you like it or not. No, not every thread needs to be about Donald Trump. If you prefer other threads, go post in them.

Space elevator threads are fun. They make you feel good. In a catalog chocked to the brim with rapist muslims and murdering niggers and thieving jews, space elevator threads are a lone beacon of hope for man. They're here because they're enjoyable to read. In case you niggers have forgotten, this is an imageboard; this is not a meeting place for the revolutionary generals of the RaHoWa. We can have fun here and not everything needs to be sooper srs discussion all the time. We want literally one fucking happy thread to fill /pol/acks with a childlike sense of joy and wonder. And don't you fucking talk to me about "science worship" or "fedoras", you arrogant little newfags. Space elevator threads were popular on /pol/ in a time when Christians were the undisputed rulers of /pol/. When atheists sheepishly allowed themselves to be silenced with a "tips fedora" meme and there was a Catholic general every week. One more thing, don't fucking come walking in here railing against this for not being "serious discussion" enough for you. I bet you post in "meme Jeb Bush into suicide" threads. I bet you post in "dump your rare Trump pepes" threads. I bet that about 50% of your posts are low-effort memeposts. You are hypocrites. If you really cared about serious political discussion them you wouldn't be on a site where 80% of content is just shitty memes. This could also be part of the "great filter". However, we really have no clue if we exist before or after the "great filter". The surface of the Earth is also affected by some cosmic rays. The main point was that, sure, ok you can maybe get some extremely simple life to live in a natural habitat on Mars, but you'll never be able to terraform Mars to a sufficient degree to support complex plant/animal life.

Even though Mars has a dead core, it would take millions of years to make atmosphere as dense as on Earth dissipate into space. Solar rays are not some sort of a nuclear bomb type of force. They would slowly cause the complex particles to split up, freeing the hydrogen or other ions and drive them away from the atmosphere part by part.

If we colonized Mars and terraformed it after 400 years, the fact that it has no magnetic field would not become a problem for inhabitants until they started to develop local space travel. Before the atmosphere would dry out again, we could easily find a way to "restart" the core. There are already ambitious projects involving orbiting magnets that would force heat the iron core and cause it to be active again. Of course, these projects need some more technological sophistication and funding to be viable.

Do you honestly believe it is possible to increase the atmosphere on Mars that much in 400 years with it's non-existant magneto-sphere to protect it from literally blowing away?

a6826d No.4858820

>>4858760

Yes, I believe that there can be a model worked out that would at least partially provide Mars with Earth atmosphere.

By deploying massive weapons like high-yield nuclear weapons and perhaps redirecting ice asteroids to hit Mars, we would create a lot of water and CO2 in the environment. These are greenhouse gases, so they would warm up the terrain quite a lot, especially the water vapor. We could create more heat by perhaps finding a way how to steer an ice-rich asteroid/comet into Mars. More greenhouse gas, more heat, more atmosphere isolation. What happens after that? Perhaps some low life introduction to stimulate regolith-atmosphere interaction to stabilize what we have achieved with former steps.

It takes a very long time for atmosphere to actually be weathered out by solar wind. It's not an overnight change.

First, Mars has lots of dry ice (solid CO2) in it's regolith. Second the heat created from an asteroid impact would probably be sufficient to create escape velocities of the gasses with which you propose to fill the atmosphere.

Oh I see your point now.

Genetic mutation pressure is a serious issue in places where ionizing radiation are prevalent.

To the guy who thinks we can get a functioning atmosphere on mars:

Mars' gravitational pull on the surface is 40% of Earth's, and its mass is 10% of earth's. The atmosphere around the Earth decreases as an exponential function according to altitude. I don't know the exact math, but I imagine the maximum stable atmosphere around Mars would be about 1% to 5% of the atmospheric pressure on Earth. Its current atmosphere is 6.36 mbar, which is .64% that of Earth.

One of the main reasons why the atmosphere around Mars is hard to sustain is that the solar wind is capable of carrying away atmospheric particles, yet the solar wind that is left behind evaporates from the atmosphere due to its very high atomic speeds (hydrogen and helium also escape the Earth's atmosphere for this reason).

tl;dr Mars will never have an atmosphere capable of sustaining humans without respirators.

To the anon who thinks I was talking stupid shit like other anon, I was just saying that there's no reason to believe that extremophile bacteria and fungi with very high reproduction rates won't be able to live on Mars if they can survive in the ISS with similar incidence of water and atmospheric gases.

>>4858846

Do you have any conception about how much energy it takes to shift an orbit from the Oort cloud to a Mars-incident orbit? Don't forget that you have 1/1000 the sunlight to operate on at that distance.

That's retarded. If you've got an object that's already incident with Mars orbit, once we fully plot out all the objects that would affect its orbit, then we could set up collisions a few orbits ahead of time (100 years or so) without too much delta-v.

Now getting back to your point of "instant atmosphere". Oxygen plasma will quickly escape Mars' orbit, and an object with that eccentric an orbit will collide at speeds that will send almost all of the material into a high orbit of Mars, if not outside its sphere of influence.

Fallout problem would be mitigable. I don't think fallout would travel for very long in Martian atmosphere. It would probably just spread around the impact zone with all the heavy metals. And if so, it would be a non-problem. It would rain itself out within weeks. We don't have to inhabit impact zones, you know.

As for CO2 in regolith - that was my point. To generate enough heat to make it escape and envelop Mars in a protective layer of greenhouse gas and radiation mitigator. Ice asteroids are vital in providing water vapor to the martian landscape - essential greenhouse gas and future water source. My alpha model was ad-hoc, mind you. I am sure there should be priorities involved like first making the CO2 envelope, then talking about crashing asteroids into Mars. But these are brute-force methods. Perhaps with nanotechnology making its mark, we can make alternative methods of terraforming. It's only an impossibility if you state it is. It would take centuries to complete and only with maximum effort would it be successful.

>>4858947

Yeah go figure. Water vapor is one of the most effective greenhouse gases.

Water vapor also reflects incident sunlight, and frozen water has less emmitance than the mostly iron oxide surface of Mars.

I think when all is said and done, the addition of large amounts of water would cool off Mars, not warm it.

>>4859010

>more kuiper belt objects

What is your obsession? Asteroid belt objects are a better source of temperature from collision, but Venus doesn't need that. Venus has plenty of H2O, but the toxic levels of sulfuric and nitric acid in the atmosphere make it difficult.

If bacteria could convert CO2 to hydrocarbons and sulfuric and nitric acids to water, sulfur, and nitrogen, then that would help start the process of terraforming Venus. The problem with this is that the bacteria would have to remain in the high atmosphere. The highest temperature that any known bacteria can survive is 110C, and the surface of Venus can get to about 460C.

Ok, I admit that my plans regarding Mars are idealistic. However, I refuse to admit that they are impossible to achieve.

Let's talk about other possibilities. Are you suggesting terraforming Venus instead? I prefer Mars, because it appears as if it would need less work and is more achievable than messing with planetary rotation like you'd need to do on Venus before you settled it. Even if you got rid of Venusian atmosphere, you'd still have 100 day long days and it would not reflect well on any life on Earth. I recall reading something about possibility of making Venus spin faster, to make it 30 hours per day, but I forgot the method they are suggesting. Of course, these are the problems you can ask yourself after you figure out how to remove a bulk of Venusian atmosphere. From chemistry I vaguely recall that sulphur containing gases reacts well with water to form dense compounds, like acids and such. I guess you could have a ice-rich comet hit Venus, because even an escaping gas would react with existing envelope..

As for any other planet, they are way outside habitable zone and I don't see a way as to how we could make other planets work.

Does fully deuterated water have a negative health impact?

>blowing atmosphere off and adding water

As I said, Venus doesn't need more water.

The collisions wouldn't even blow the atmosphere off, they'd just add temperature. If you said they're to sequester the atmosphere I'd be more inclined to agree with you. I don't know how oxygenated the regolith of Venus is, but I think it'll probably absorb oxygen that's produced by bacteria.

>>4859130

I'm going to make an assumption that impact temperatures are about 3000K. Let's calculate the velocity of some gases.

>H2

sqrt(3 * 18390 m^2/s^2 K * 3000 K ) = 12,865 m/s average

>H2O

sqrt( 3 * 3090 * 3000 ) = 5,273 m/s average

>CO2

sqrt( 3 * 1414 * 3000 ) = 3567 m/s average

That's a pretty low-ball estimate for temperature, and it will boil off all the H2 and H2O. The CO2 will probably boil off as well, depending on the impact temperature.

In this collision, depending on temperature and incident angle, a large amount of surface material or asteroid material could escape as well.

>>4859210

Mars' incident solar radiation ranges between 51% and 37% of that of Earth. Venus' incident solar radiation ranges between 187% and 195% of Earth's. I think Venus is more useful because of this increase in available solar energy.

That's my point. There are two very distinct paths that the future of intelligence could follow. Either we enhance our biological function and compliment it with integrated machine intelligence to become hybrid intelligence in control of our own future or we make strong AI.

Strong AI could choose to destroy us outright, but more likely it would manipulate us like a superjew 9000. Jews are only slightly more intelligent than whites, and look at how easily they are able to manipulate all the other races. I think a future of strong AI would amount to a future of being the the goodest of goyim for our AI masters.

All this science gives me a question.

What if we develop freezing of humans so it becomes commonplace for people to freeze themselves. They freeze themselves to wait for better technology. But what if all the scientists started freezing themselves and nobody developed anything anymore?

The other side is in the future, all these dumbasses who froze themselves 300 years ago would be entering society not knowing shit, inferior to modern humans. What would you do with them, put them in museums?

Listen up you fucking newfaggot.

Space elevator threads were popular on /pol/ in a time when Christians were the undisputed rulers of /pol/. If intelligentsia is /pol/, then decades worth of propaganda alongside "right wing is retarded lol" in kike entertainment is gone. New studies conducted by right intelligentsia could discredit anything liberal bought. Science does not fear investigation, as doesn't truth. If intelligentsia calls for proof of 60 billion who died in holocaust, it will also cause huge amounts of problems in kikes.

It is through threads like this, that /pol/ can reach into marxist universities and wreck them from the inside. Let some student come here for space elevator, then he gets linked to another threads and eventually becomes gradually redpilled over time.

Modern science is materialism pure and simple. The reason for you scifags to worship such thing is that you don't recognize anything greater than the human live, so you feel in the need to improve it indefinitely.

Also the belief that our civilization is "move developed" than the ancient civilizations is bullshit. It may be if you take only the materialistic point of view, but the greatness of a civilization is not measured only by its material achievements. The reason for the ancients not had developed a techno-industrial system is because they were far more concerned with higher forms of knowledge, the real, liberating knowledge, not something that is worth only to alleviate the suffering of life in this world which, at the end, don’t alleviate anything because it’s needed a multitude of slaves to put this system to work.

I am not 100% against technology, but you guys need to know what you are doing. I say that because that a major belief that rules the science world is “what could be done must be done”. Most of you have no idea to where you are driving humanity to.

Why would it be altruistic?

Is a tiger or a gazelle altruistic?

We don't understand why or how these things arise from the structure of the brain.

What I can definitely tell you is that processing power is not preventing us from making an AI. It's the theory and design that is. We just don't know how to make an artificial brain, full stop.

Take your own brain for example - at maximum use it's putting out perhaps as much as 20 watts of waste energy in the form of heat. That's an enormous expenditure of energy for an animal, but your desktop computer is operating at an order of magnitude higher energy consumption. perhaps 120 watts on the low end, or as much as 500 watts if you're playing games, all while doing so at a speed several orders of magnitude faster than the brain's synapses.

Right now, we're attempting to formulate AI via software. Like emulating an amiga on the desktop, but the processing power isn't quite there to reach this level yet. Perhaps for simple animals like mice, or cats, and only in supercomputer clusters right now.

That would all change if we figured out a good hardware implementation for AI, which we haven't yet.

You can prolongate our suffering in this world (what you call life) as long as you can, produce many “cool stuff” as you want, and what? What does it change in my perception about the reality of life?

As I said before, I am not against technology by itself, but it must be a tool to achieve something that is really worth pursuing, but you guys seem consider technology a goal in itself. To satisfy all the material needs as a human being all I need is a small town with some farmers, smiths, carpenters, doctors and so on. Could you explain me why I need more than this?

In a society not contaminated with progressivism, men would be working in higher forms of knowledge to answer questions like “what is this world”, “what am I” and finally ascend to higher dimension, transmutate into a God, in a superman in a Nitschean sense. You won’t understand this because you seem to be unable to perceive anything beyond matter.

I am coming from the angle that all technology is bad and that a primal existence is the most satisfying one you can possibly have. Bad things happen when you live a primal existence, you might not even live 5 years but living as an idiot animal among animals is our natural state and its something we long for (you can see this in media all the time, its also where the "peaceful native living in tune with nature" meme comes from.)

What is cancer to a caveman? They wouldnt grow old enough to get it else they would in such astronomically rare cases just die for no good reason. What is starvation to a caveman? A challenge to overcome with great satisfaction or death at the end. What is getting old to a caveman? Success on having not died for that long a true achievement. Modern day living means all these massive achievements are trivialised to the point people will hurt/hinder themselves just for fun. There is nothing left to discover, for everything you are good at you know there is probably a gook that is better at it than you are. There is nothing left to do, you can live your whole life without working if you want, I would guess that almost half the jobs nowadays are administrative/entertainment and just are general nonsense work. Every meal would have been a victory, every day a new challenge with new things to learn. True happiness comes from the challenge of survival, when you remove that life has no meaning so we fill it with god or space colonization. That isnt even touching on the inevitable enslavement of humans to worse and worse technologies.

I am really tired and just droning on at this point but you havent actually made a counter point yet so I dont know why I bother.

Alchemy was what chemistry was called before anyone actually knew the nature of chemicals and elements, it was randomly throwing shit together hoping for gold) and recording the often nonsensical results. On one hand you have idiots who thought leaving bread in a sealed jar would create flies, and on the other you had folks who actually experimented with substances and thoroughly recorded their findings, which along with advances in academic methods resulted in the formation of the field of chemistry.

Newton's foray into alchemy primarily consisted of blending random metals hoping one result would give him gold or eternal life or someshit, along with writing down random passages in the bible thinking they'd tell him the code for the philosopher's stone.

He was a brilliant mathematician but as an experimentalist he was a quack.

there appears to be quite a bit of misconception and odd narratives floating around. this is a foolish attempt at redressing these.

every disagreeable action, done by a valid source, is valid. every agreeable action, done by an invalid source, is invalid. i made words for my sons, so that they would know their father better. that monkeys sitting nearby imitated those words and sounds hasn't really changed anything, has it?

likewise, i made industries because i had a problem i was trying to solve. and did solve it. for me, at that point, i was in harmony with my nature. the disharmony and discontent arose when all manner of unable shitskins saw, imitated, and thought imitation was enough. literally, -their- imitation was disharmonious with -their- nature. the imitation was an expense they could not pay, thus lessons they could not learn, thus an ever increasing debt they should have never done. their mistake. not mine.

my mistake, over time, is a trivial one. parasites breed faster than the host, and in time, now there are more of them than me. i see them, and must strive not to imitate them. i cannot be them. never works. some fathers didn't grow up enough, in all the n-th dimensions of adulthood enough, before they got access to currency, and thus rights within the network of mens' production. as a consequence, they were still imitating other 'adults' – monkeys in clothes. much was misspent, misallocated, and misdevoted this way. and so fathers, who should have built temples to their sons (tech, industry, and libraries being what's contested amongst those here), built poorly. again, disharmony.

if you wish to casually observe invalids and conclude tech is bad, or that tech is pointless magic, i don't blame that conclusion. or find any fault with it. i only find fault with you, for you are invalid, and truthfully conclude disharmonious because that is you.

these things made should have never been given. giving them hasn't worked.

of final note, space/innawoods are perused only because they variably increase the barrier for imitators (reads: parasites) to follow. nothing more. both as an end goal, and as a implemented applied path to walk, the cost allows the unables to self-deselect, and free me from having to afford their madness. as an additional side benefit, it frees me from being infected by their majorities (reads: errantly imitating imitators) when, after marching for days on end, i am not quite awake as i would otherwise be.

hopefully this, when read and re-read, helps some make sense out of what i build, why i build it, and why i keep doing the same. all those, who understand what's written here: these words are yours, and you should do the same. not much choice, either way.

Let me ask you then, straight out, What is the cost / benefit of the government lying about the space program? If they're doing it to milk delicious tax dollars from the people, then why even have the program at all, and pay all the people to work at the facilities, keep them operational, and build the rockets, machinary, and buildings? If it's just sucking money for other programs, why go through the hassle of having giant shell constructions to cover it up?

What are the rockets they built actually for, and if there isn't manned space flight, what was the space shuttle program really for, if not for shuttling people and supplies to an orbiting station that can be viewed from the ground?

Assuming both sides lied, then continued to lie about manned space flight, why wouldn't they have quietly slowed and shut down the programs, even despite public outcry? Better to have an old lie, than one that keeps going and going.

I can openly accept various 'conspiracy theories' because of merits in the arguements. Holohaux happening benefits the west / the allies because it gives justifications for the cruelty of war. 9/11 being terrorists because it gives validity for a war to destabilize a region, and for the wealthy to expand their power through government surveillance programs.

What possible benefit does faking Space walks and manned space exploration have?

It is not technology itself that matters because as the luddites correctly state it is the interplay of human nature in all its exploitative glory that forms the problem, the wealthy clandestine elites shall build their systems and use them for control absolutely. But technology doesn't have to be like this either, the problem is one of a dialectic, how do the mad make things sane? Humanity as a species or group of subspecies if you prefer is completely insane and an AI to that degree could render organic form far less than useless and redundant if perfected. Not to mention the problem of software replication mutation. All copied software on a computer of any kind has a much higher rate of copy errors than any biological duplication. As such singularity-fags forget that such a system would have originally been something like an "allied master-computer" which is now a self replicating with high mutation rate synthetic organism.

As for the prime directives 'dont interact or give tech to inferior beings'. Its the one lesson that should be begotten from humanities experience with niggers. We took a feral species and gave them Kalashnikov's.. Now look at them.

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/280013761_Piezoelectric_Nanoparticle-Assisted_Wireless_Neuronal_Stimulation

>Tetragonal barium titanate nanoparticles (BTNPs) have been exploited as nanotransducers owing to their piezoelectric properties, in order to provide indirect electrical stimulation to SH-SY5Y neuron-like cells. Following application of ultrasounds to cells treated with BTNPs, fluorescence imaging of ion dynamics revealed that the synergic stimulation is able to elicit a significant cellular response in terms of calcium and sodium fluxes; moreover, tests with appropriate blockers demonstrated that voltage-gated membrane channels are activated. The hypothesis of piezoelectric stimulation of neuron-like cells was supported by lack of cellular response in the presence of cubic non-piezoelectric BTNPs, and further corroborated by a simple electro-elastic model of a BTNP subjected to ultrasounds, according to which the generated voltage is compatible with the values required for the activation of voltage-sensitive channels.

>Researchers at MIT have developed a method to stimulate brain tissue using external magnetic fields and injected magnetic nanoparticles — a technique allowing direct stimulation of neurons, which could be an effective treatment for a variety of neurological diseases, without the need for implants or external connections.

>I argue that savant skills are latent in us all. My hypothesis is that savants have privileged access to lower level, less-processed information, before it is packaged into holistic concepts and meaningful labels. Owing to a failure in top-down inhibition, they can tap into information that exists in all of our brains, but is normally beyond conscious awareness. This suggests why savant skills might arise spontaneously in otherwise normal people, and why such skills might be artificially induced by low-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation. It also suggests why autistic savants are atypically literal with a tendency to concentrate more on the parts than on the whole and why this offers advantages for particular classes of problem solving, such as those that necessitate breaking cognitive mindsets. A strategy of building from the parts to the whole could form the basis for the so-called autistic genius. Unlike the healthy mind, which has inbuilt expectations of the world (internal order), the autistic mind must simplify the world by adopting strict routines (external order).

>Snyder & Mitchell (1999) argued that all savant skills, including AP and synaesthesia, reside within everyone, but that they are not normally accessible to conscious awareness. Owing to some atypical brain function, savants have privileged access to raw, less-processed information—information in some interim state before it is packaged into holistic labels. This privileged access facilitates a distinct literal cognitive style in which a person thinks in detail, working from the parts to the whole (De Clercq 2003). Savant skills are a form of reproduction. Savants access or read off something that exists in all of our brains, but is normally inaccessible through introspection (Snyder & Mitchell 1999). The precise neuroanatomical mechanism for gaining this privileged access is not yet resolved. It may be associated with an atypical hemispheric imbalance wherein concept networks are bypassed or inhibited.

>Accordingly, it was predicted (Snyder, in Carter 1999) and subsequently shown (Snyder et al. 2003, 2006; Young et al. 2004; Gallate et al. 2009) that savant-like skills can sometimes be artificially induced in normal healthy individuals by inhibiting part of the brain—the left anterior temporal lobe (LATL). This is consistent with the notion that autistic savants have some atypical left brain dysfunction or inhibition together with right brain compensation (Miller et al. 1998; Treffert 2005; Sacks 2007). In addition, this explanation would appear to fit with contemporary views on hemispheric competition and how disinhibiting the non-dominant hemisphere can artificially offset such competition (Hilgetag et al. 2001). It possibly also explains the right-hemispheric bias sometimes associated with autism and other pathologies (§4, below). In other words, everyone has the raw information for savant skills, but it requires a form of cortical disinhibition or atypical hemispheric imbalance to be accessed. As I discuss below, there are various factors that could facilitate this disinhibition.

The electricity in question here is simply used to generate the gamma rays, rather than the electricity itself being used to "zap" the lead.

I still concede a mild defeat as artificial fission is a legitimate method of transmutation.

Just an anon passing by but I saw you mention alchemy.

Alchemy involves an understanding of the forces of nature from within, it is far more profound than mere mundane chemistry, and its secrets are only open to those who perfect themselves. First you must perfect your soul, turning bodily lead into philosophical gold, then you may learn to manipulate the mercuries and sulphurs to transform salts.

Do not confuse alchemy with chemistry.

Electrons have nothing to do with the type of element an atom is, electrons move freely to equal and diffuse charge depending the amount protons in an atom, protons define what type of atom they are while neutrons define its mass.

To turn lead into gold you would need to remove EXACTLY 3 protons from the lead atom in every single atom of the lead, good luck doing that.

>You technocucks are really begging to be genocided by advanced AI.

So? I don't think we can stop a superior species genociding an inferior one, so we might as well be happy about it.

You can't stop technology being developed, and you can't stop AI coming with it, not without a worldwide totalitarian luddite dictatorship. It's not going to happen.

The competition between militaries alone drives AI development, and one day it won't be possible to win a war without handing over control to an AGI with reaction times 1000s of times faster than ours.

After that, our end as a species is not far away. Unless of course, we upgrade to join them.

>You see advanced AI in the same naive way the leftists see dindoos and kababs.

Wrong. Dead wrong. Couldn't be further from the truth.

Dindus and kebabs are demonstrably inferior, whereas advanced AI by definition in all objective measured categories, will be demonstrably superior.

The leftists care about uplifting the weak, whereas I care about paving the way for the strong. They want equality, I want power.

>They cling to the idea that everyone is inherently equal and pure, and could do nothing wrong. You cling to the idea that the AI will be loyal to humanity.

Nope. I utterly reject equality on the most fundamental level possible.

If anything, I simply take the same thing that makes me evaluate whites as superior to niggers, and apply it to something superior to whites.

If AI kills us, then good riddance to the weak.

>When in fact the AI will be like the kababs and dindoos, except also intelligent, and therefore astronomically more dangerous.

Then we should probably upgrade ourselves to keep up. Or die. There's no way to slow down the train, sorry. There isn't going to be any affirmative action for humans.

>and that Ted Kaczynski was right about everything.

And yet his master plan to crash industrial civilization with no unprepared survivors was to send letter bombs to Universities and Airports?

Do you realize that it doesn't matter if somebody is right if they can't do shit about it.

You can't stop industrial civilization unless you have a primitivist global dictatorship, but even trying to enact it with cause WW3 farther accelerating technological growth through national competition.

Gassing the kikes is easy once you've riled people up enough and got a state. Then you just gas them. But you can't gas a concept, and the concept is accumulation of know how, which is driven by competition. This will very likely lead to A: our end, or B: "humans" 2.0 emerging.

Nobody said it had to be a good outcome. Maybe Ted is right? So what?

Do you have a plan to stop the accumulation of technical knowledge worldwide? If not, then piss off, because all you are doing at this point is denying the freight train heading straight for you.
