step 1:

Install Linux

Ubuntu will work fine.

step 2:

Download the following software - a lot of software on linux can be downloaded from the terminal by typing "sudo apt-get install NAME_OF_SOFTWARE_HERE"

GIMP - images editing

Open Shot - video editing software

Pencil2D - Animation Creation software

[Sound recording software] - On your computer by default if you're using Ubuntu

Kazam - Screen recorder

OBS - Screen recorder

Windows alternative steps:

- pirate photoshop

- use www.clipconverter.cc (lets you download whole source or set time windows which is very handy)

- for vidya, pirate premiere.

Unfortunately, Linux is seriously lacking with decent video NLEs, its one of the things keeping me on Windows

And you can also just use VLC to download videos from streaming sites like YouTube and such by viewing media info and finding the original video URL

Other than that; fairly solid guide

Alternative for Windows users who don't want to use Linux for one reason or another and don't want to state why lest this thread turn into a flamewar;

1.) Pirate Photoshop CS6; its piss easy, just go to tpb, alternative, install GIMP for Windows

2.) Use VLC like I said above for YT download.etc

3.) I personally recommend Sony Vegas for video editing, Adobe Premiere Pro may be a bit more complicated for one-man jobs, most YTP makers and shit will prefer Vegas, but there's no reason why you can't just pirate both of them

Krita is also an excellent Draw Tablet Software I hear, and its available for GNU/Linux as well for you Linux bros

For animation, you can pirate ToonBoom animation studio, its what all the pros use in Jewllywood

Nigger, just use VLC

Open a YouTube link in VLC

Than go to Tools>Media Information

You should then see the raw video URL at the bottom of the window, copy and paste into web browser and then right click>Save As…

You can download MOST YouTube videos this way but you may run into Caveats with some videos if you copy the link from Chrome I hear

I was on CS6 and very comfortable with it. With my new HD I decided to get CC 2015, haven't really tried it yet. Any reason why you prefer the old version? Just wondering if there's something I don't know.

No real reason, CS6 is technically the last version of PS before Adobe went to Creative Cloud, I just don't like the sound of "Creative Cloud" never cared for it, CS6 is the last true PS version too me, and I have the most experience with it, tried CC for a short time and its literally just CS6 with a new name, obviously there are probably some small bugfixes here and there, but at this point, there's really nothing left for Adobe to even fix or upgrade
