I'm currently learning about the "Science Wars" in my required STS class. They say that it was done because social scientists wanted to ensure more accurate and useful data, but I can read between the lines to know that's bullshit. I've read this issue being referenced in some threads here, and I need to know more about this issue so that I won't be brainwashed. Anything important I need to remember for this lesson so that I can pass my exams?

acc2d7 No.4887836

From what I understand it just showed to anybody with a brain that the social """""sciences""""" are nothing more than emperor's-new-clothes-tier charades that have little to no real value.

Ikr, I'm starting to feel that my STS class is a waste of time. Thankfully I'm not required to take any gender studies class.

What the fuck are the "science wars" ?

c0d5fe No.4889908

Ask if the data source has been peer reviewed and confirmed and by whom. Every time, else it should not be considered accurate science Theory to be applied, it is only hypothoses and can only be used as conjecture, and that is where most people jump to conclusions (news/politicians) and get into trouble.

'According to a study by…" is a typical headline on the news - before it has been peer reviewed by another credible source or another source at all and it was a crock of shit all along to sell some shill of a product or fad.

Take a firm stance on the issue, tell them if you want to talk science, it must be peer reviewed accurately and confirmed before a discussion on that matter should take place, anything else on any other matter should be left outside of a science classroom.

Any "study" that is merely a "survey" is not scientific as it can never be exactly repeatable and has been debated as pseudo science and can only lead to conjecture and leading edge hypothesis and ideas of what to do in case of… etc…

But whatever.

Probably a buncha shit saying how nigger rape statistics are racist and how female biology is actually 99.9999 repeating (100) percent similar to male biology.

Maybe they'll also propagandize how those ebil conserbatives and don't know science. That science only started to exist about 200 years ago and it disproved God somehow.

Happened in the 90's iirc, postmodernists, critical theorists, deconstructionists (basically the humanities) started coming into the hard sciences and pushing critical theory and other pseudosciences.

Look up the Sokal affair, it's pretty funny. These faggots were saying shit like gravity is racist, fluid dynamics were sexist, e=mc2 was privilege. All sorts of crazy shit.

TL;DR

Basically it's feminists and social "scientists" trying to make false facts as accepted facts and were basically (and still are) BTFOd and laughed at.

Read the wiki page, sounds like cultural marxism to me. In the past I would say the realists were right that if you use correct scientific method you will find the one and only truth (short interjection here as I am a physics major I have to say that it seems like everything is relative speed position time mass so the only absolute is that there are no absolutes, however this was not what the science wars were about).

Now days I would say the post modernists are right. social "science" is only a social construct, designed by kikes and marxists. It is a tool to tell people what they want to hear a tool to label opposition as "mentaly ill" and so on. A propaganda tool basicaly that has nothign in common with real science other than the name.

1a73c9 No.4891915

Past differential calculus (which was thaught in Highschool before common core), all high level math is relate math to math, never the real world.

It's great if you want to make some internally constant theory about how to calculate gravity in 6 dimensional space or whatever, but it's not useful in the slightest.

15861e No.4891943

>>4891671

Pretty much. After reading the wiki entry it sounds like STS is just a rehash of the same PC critical theory shit that started the science wars.

>Science, technology and society (STS), also referred to as science and technology studies, is a branch or offspring of science studies. It considers how social, political, and cultural values affect scientific research and technological innovation, and how these, in turn, affect society, politics and culture.

>society

>studies

>cultural values

>affect society, politics and culture

These are all dead give aways that it's just more of the marxist bullshit that's spreading through academia.

I want to say that past history shows these kooks were BTFO, which is good, but it's fucking ridiculous that this cancer hasn't died yet.

Not a single mathematician has created mathematics that has no use outside of mathematics. There was this crazy guy in the 19th century or something who tried to create useless mathematics (because he was autistimus maximus) 100 years later they found a useful application. Read the book is god a mathematician.

He's refering to Newton's creation of algebra to explain his own gravity theory

3f9774 No.4892283

>>4892159

I do not remember the name of the guy who tried to create "pure" mathematics nor do I remember what it was he created all I know is that many years later they found a use for it.

A great example are Rieman surfaces (I think thats the correct term). Before Rieman people believed that the shortest distance between two points is a line (euclidean geometrics), Rieman created a hypothetical curved space in which the shortest distance between two points is not a line but e.g. a hyperbola or a parabola. Many years later Einstein comes along and creates General Relativity where curved space is used. Then again many years later man develops GPS which would not work if we did not know about General Relativity (clocks would not be synchronized).

As for the book is god a mathematician. It is mainly about wether or not the universe is mathematics or mathematics is a product of the universe or in other words is mathematics a discovery or an "invention". The author shows that all mathematics has meaning and describes some kind of real phenomenon. It is also were I got my first mini redpill since the book refers to Platos 5 Regimes, which kind of describes the decay of society. Anyways he also shares the views of other philosophers/mathematicians/physicists on mathematics

Every social science is plagued with nepotism and cryonism. When one of the people peer reviewing your shit is a fellow board member in whatever clubhouse you go to each weekend it takes away the seriousness.

Add in that it's women with an agenda as well and you are screwed from the get-go.

Don't call it science.

I studied political science and public administration , and now I have a good job doing paperwork in the government. But yeah, I recognize that there is nothing like "social science", these are not a science. The career was interesting sometimes, but too much marxist indoctrination in subjects like sociology or politics with things like "race does not exist" and things like that. But we had good subjects like economy, informatic, law, and languages. Also I went to good optional extra activities in college, I rember I went to lots of military seminars about geopolitics and strategy.

reading some of the anarchist (ecnomic) literature will turn you away from communism / socialism

if you are AnCap (honestly human judgement is too bad for full anarchism, its not even close, people suck really really hard at estimating the future opportunity costs of death. they get all riled up by revenge and whatnot. I would argue AnCap is the nearer approximation to the empirical optimum, and its not at all close) and you personally want to live in a natsoc* community, then know that you are not alone

*personally I think culture >> ethnicity, altho ethnicity is a factor still

they probably would be fine if those guys had a proper introduction to statisitc, probability, what is a reasonable probability for drawing a conclusion, and also a broad intro to chaos theory, and made to formulate some equation how reliable even 99,99% are in a system so complex as ours

and were forced to read a hundred shitty medical studies

probably most of them would switch major after realizing how much pseudoscienc theyre doing.

and that doesnt even touch on the fact that a shitton of social science is just marxist indoctrination.

Eh there are some "social sciences" that do have merit but they aren't the ones people usually think of. Designing a favorable font for critical instructions, hammering down technical language for applications, and basic international relations are all decent social sciences.

Unfortunately there is just a lot of bullshit attached to the concept as well, sort of like chiropractors.
