Already been tried multiple times, see all the "Green Revolutions", they failed

Not sure how it's going to go down, but I'd suspect a war in the next several years, probably a US backed coalition taking on Iran

KSA, Pakistan, Jordan, Egypt, Israel, Gulf States v Iran and what's left of Syria and Iraq

it's still pegged to the dollar. they just need euros to pay for all them new airbuses they just bought. it also helps them circumvent US financial sanctions since there are banking sanctions in place, related to the hostage crisis. by using euros and European banks US has no jurisdiction to do anything.

the green movement wasn't a "colored" revolution. for fucks sake all the candidates were regime insiders. their arguments wasn't over westernization and freedom, it was over who gets to steal the oil money.

also a civil war is very unlikely since iranian civilians are disarmed. the government takes armed crimes very seriously since an armed populace is bad for its health. it's not like iraq where each family could own an AK for protection. the only armed people are army/ircg and militia/basij plus maybe the tribal sheep herders and the like and for them it's bolt action rifles, nothing "threatening".
