SJWs have a lot less power than they would admit.
From my experience in college, and talking to so many people including those that should be lapping up the whole SJW narrative. I can tell you that most "normies" don't believe the stuff they say and only say it out of fear of being rejected, scolded, shamed, etc. or out of a desire for praise or a sense of belonging. Their responses are socially engineered and instilled from a young age. They have been made to feel ashamed if they even think they are stepping away from the accepted narrative.
When you speak one on one or even in a small group (Excluding those that have a personal stake in pushing the SJW narrative) and confront them with the flaws of "their" (programmed) worldview, show them strength and determination, etc. They will agree.
One of the major flaws of the SJW ideology is that it revolves around Oppression Olympics and "holier than thou" attitudes. It's a magnet for narcissism and masochism. In the end, this destroys people and puts them off.
Their constant bickering about who is more "pure" and less "privileged" and more "oppressed" effectively divides them into ever smaller (and less agreeable) groups. The SJW movement was destined to self implode (we are already seeing the first signs).
The people now put off by the weakness, self-depreciation, false sense of belonging and self-hate of the SJW idealogy will now flock to those worldviews and communities that make them feel empowered, strong and hopeful and the leaders that emphasize this.
Many elites can't stop talking about trump because they are panicking and fearful.
While ordinary people subconsciously experience awe and amazement. IT appeals to cherished ideals and myths of heroism in face of impossible odds to see one man triumph over an entire establishment hell bent on destroying him.
Natural born followers flock towards not only those that say what they would not dare spell out, but also those that display strength and the characteristics of a capable leaders. Bernie actually has one of those characteristics, but Trump has all. He is masculine, strong, aggressive, successful, seemingly immune to shame and criticism and says what people want to hear.
And that compared to someone like Hillary. Who is lacking in charisma, who contempts her voters, who is an acknowledged failure, who might try to say what people want to hear but can't say it convincingly with the necessary aggression who displays fear in the face of her opponent and attempts to shame people into voting for her.
