James 1:3
"Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience."
What is it you are believing for but haven't yet seen come to pass? If you've held up your request to God and He's put His okey-dokey on it, then keep the faith!
I have stood planted in faith for 33 years my God, The Healer, would heal me…completely! And as of April 13, 2014, for the first time in 33 years, I have absolutely no pain in my body! Give Him the Glory!
Keeping the faith causes us to learn to endure, be steadfast, and exercise the "P-word"…patience!
How gracious is our God to not only create each of us with "a measure" of faith, but then He helps us grow that measure to immeasurable size!

Yes, I too am a huge fan of Christian and Conservative values, so lets look at what the Bible says about those matters
Family Values:
>For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household.
- Matthew 10:35-36
The Free Market:
>And the congregation of those who believed were of one heart and soul; and not one of them claimed that anything belonging to him was his own, but all things were common property to them.
- Acts 4:32
Foreign Policy:
>"Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.
- Matthew 26:52

This was not Jesus saying that families/ family values are bad in any way, but it was emphasizing how Jesus is more Important than any of your family members. The next verse says this clearly
>Acts 4:32
While I do not disagree in saying that this verse says that Christian brothers do not withhold property from each other, It however did not rag on the free market in any way. Free market is an outlet for people to do with their money what they will, without bending to the whims of the state.

Before the death of Christ, God had set the punishment of sin as death. After the crucifixion, that punishment for humanity was taken upon Jesus.
Anytime God had commanded removal of a certain people or cities was before Christ had come and because the whole of them turned away from him committing sins.
He saved Noah who had enough faith to build an ark over many years while being ridiculed by their society.
He sent an angel and saved Lot's family from Sodom and Gamora because they still had faith in him. (Yea his wife became kill, but that's because she looked back when God said not to.)
>spread his gospel at the tip of a sword and then condemn this after the fact
[citation needed]
Just because he has unconditional love for his creation, doesn't mean he won't test their faith or punish those who turn against him.
He's referred to as a father for a reason.

It's not like the people of Sodom and Gomorrah (that's the proper spelling) declared war on god like in the movie "Wrath of the Titans". They were just doing what any modern-day city (or any major BCE metropolis if you prefer pre-NT examples) does, sodomy and rape included, yet the majority of those thrived, one of which thrived so well that it directly influenced the events of the NT despite being a great distance away. It seems like God is completely fickle and arbitrary when it comes to deciding who's turned against him.
>[citation needed]
There are plenty of examples. Forced conversion of Europeans in the early Middle Ages, the Crusades, the conquest of the New World, just to name the well-known examples. (Yes, I know those are all a bit more nuanced than that.)

If God reserves punishment for the afterlife, then why did he do so much punishing of people in the mortal world before the NT, and why was he so inconsistent with it back then?
3bb2ca No.159939

>then why did he do so much punishing of people in the mortal world before the NT
He didn't do as much punishing as you are implying in that statement. There are MANY years and decades between events in the bible (namely the old testament). Many of those things were major events God decided to archive in the bible to use as a lesson(s) for those who read it.
>and why was he so inconsistent with it back then?

3bb2ca No.159941

>There are MANY years and decades between events in the bible
You don't really record the numerous years that built up to a specific event when you are telling a story (historical or otherwise). You really just want to highlight the notable parts that the story needs to make sense to those reading.
79ddc0 No.159944

>There are MANY years and decades between events in the bible (namely the old testament).
If God were to fill the OT world with a genocide every day of the week except Sunday, then it would be too banal and common to include in the holy text, wouldn't it?
>could you elaborate on what you refer to with him being inconsistent in the OT?
Not necessarily within the confines of the OT world proper, but just the time frame in which the OT takes place. The cities of the Mycenaeans, the Indians, the Chinese, the Phoenicians, the Hittites, and the rather large number of other OT-era civilizations that were in little to no way involved with the OT religion got no punishment from God yet weren't short of sin in their own rights since sin is generally the human condition, especially for heathens.
