>>281But that's not true if you actually look at the EU: There were Moffs and Admirals and Grand Admirals all over the place who wanted to keep their power intact after Endor, and they were the ones causing most of the trouble outside of the random dark force users or Emperor clones or lost admirals or whatnot. Even if you don't follow the EU, why would you assume that the Emperor would bring all of his commanders to an unfinished battle station on the ass end of nowhere to participate in the ambush of a rag tag fleet of poorly funded revolutionaries? The entire government and military of an galaxy-wide government, all in one place? Palpatine was pretty damn arrogant, but that's just retarded.
As for the thread topic, I definitely prefer post-Trilogy EU to Old Republic and earlier. The old republic era had potential at first, but the more popular it became the less consistent it felt, and the appeal faded for me. To be fair, post-Trilogy EU can be pretty spotty too, especially when it came to the New Jedi Order and aftermath.
