What do you think of Mace, /starwars/?
People say Samuel L. Jackson was a bad choice for this character, and I guess I can see where the criticism comes from. But I think he managed to breathe some life into a character who otherwise would have been completely flat.
Apparently having Mace die confronting Palpatine rather than "like some punk" (i.e. all the other Jedi sans Yoda and Kenobi) was Jackson's idea, based BMF

original scripts for E3 had windu survive the fall and get killed by boba fett
and slj was a great pick, it's not like we needed idris elba for the role or anything.

I agree. He seemed like a his script was written as a filler character, but jackson made Mace feel relevant as an active leader in the council. Yoda would sit back and chill, but Mace took on the onus of conducting meetings

I didn't mind the character. I think a lot of the criticism of him comes from just a watching of Episode 1 where he doesn't do much, but it pays off in Episode 3. He was so hard on Anakin throughout the prequels that when it came to the confrontation with Palpatine he was probably the only Jedi that Anakin would have been okay with killing.

dunno about space pirate but if this does happen in rebels that would be legit.

>>1069>>1081When you think about it the way Obi Wan and Anakin handled falling through Coruscant Mace should have been able to survive.
Since Maul survived death in Star Wars needs to be more than falling some great distance.

The character was written FOR Jackson, what the fuck are you talking about? The reason he even had a purple lightsaber was because the actor demanded it so he could stand apart.

Never liked him until I saw 2D Clone Wars. Although he was too OP for me there, but still wicked.
