Do you like the lore of the pre-prequel stuff more, or after the original trilogy? Example, I assume everyone here likes the original movies more, but I feel that all the stuff about the old republic/jedi order/mandalorian wars/etc is richer then the Vong/Thrawn etc. Really I like them both, but which would you pick to be more interesting?

 No.116

I prefer the post movie EU to the pre-movie EU because, you know, Thrawn. And some of the other imperial remnant stuff was alright, too.

Yeah Thrawn was a bad ass but I eventually got tired of the "oh ho ho, you thought the empire was done? Well jokes on you, there was ANOTHER group of star destroyers that we forgot to tell the war was over!" Although now I'm starting to feel that way about the Sith Empire in the Old Republic Era

 No.129

kotor is best pre-movie eu
apart from all the shit happening with the imperial remnant, thrawn, caedus, not much happens post-eu that's really worth getting into, but there is a lot of inter-movie eu that is pretty good.

The leaks about what disney say the sith are are fucking atrocious.

Apparently Palpatine's ancestor founded the sith.

Destroying the Death Star wasn't GG. The Empire wouldn't quit because the Emperor died, they'd just move all their officers up ranks to fill the spaces. Still pissed Grand Moff Tarkin died out so soon, he was a fucking boss.

why does everyone say this

the entire chain of command died on the death star or in the battle of endor

just like how germany quit after hitler and his top generals killed themselves

so the empire quit because they had no central leadership to pick up

But that's not true if you actually look at the EU: There were Moffs and Admirals and Grand Admirals all over the place who wanted to keep their power intact after Endor, and they were the ones causing most of the trouble outside of the random dark force users or Emperor clones or lost admirals or whatnot. Even if you don't follow the EU, why would you assume that the Emperor would bring all of his commanders to an unfinished battle station on the ass end of nowhere to participate in the ambush of a rag tag fleet of poorly funded revolutionaries? The entire government and military of an galaxy-wide government, all in one place? Palpatine was pretty damn arrogant, but that's just retarded.

As for the thread topic, I definitely prefer post-Trilogy EU to Old Republic and earlier. The old republic era had potential at first, but the more popular it became the less consistent it felt, and the appeal faded for me. To be fair, post-Trilogy EU can be pretty spotty too, especially when it came to the New Jedi Order and aftermath.
