What do you make of this character?

Him coming back with robot legs is canon now.

I can understand using the force to try and stay alive, I can understand surviving having your legs cut off, but how do you survive getting bisected and still be able to perform normal biological functions like shit, piss and digest food? And what about blood circulation? I'm not a doctor so if there's a valid explanation for this then please share. Anyway, did the force create semi-tangible substitutes for his lost/damaged organs until he could get cybernetic replacements?

My questions aside, I didn't completely hate the idea of him returning despite how much it irked me when I first heard it. But I really disliked his brother Savage. Having him go from a noble and loving brother into a heartless killing machine even after being freed from the Nightsisters Control was just a poor move and he could've served to balance out Maul's character and create some real development. But of course in this series I guess that's a no since they even made Dooku pure evil as well.

I thought Savage was a good idea and they should have just stuck with him instead of bringing Maul back.

Savage bent his knee to Maul way too fast. The old Maul was a lot cooler in the comics. He had a code of honor and valued strength and a good fight. He wanted vengeance against the Jedi, but struggled with the idea of what would become of him once they were wiped out (also: why it was happening in the first place). Clone Wars made him far too "MUH REVENGE" in my opinion. Which makes sense between being stuck in a hole in the ground for a decade with spider legs and Talzin's magic, but still, new Maul is too cartoony.

Back to Savage, the first few episodes involving him were sweet. Then his character disappears and he's just a body that fights for Maul. Plus he dies without any impact. He felt like a huge waste.

I've seen someone with no arms or legs IRL. Maul could easily survive.

He isn't just missing his legs. Everything from the waist down is cut off. He has no digestive system left

No arms or no legs is one thing, but losing your entire fucking waist?!

Exactly

It was a real shame how TCW removed any positive traits any sith had and just made them stereotypically evil, Asajj being the sole exception. When Savage finally breaks free of Asajj and Dooku, you would think he'd go back to being the honorable warrior he was again or at least go solo instead of bringing back Maul or having him act as Maul's conscience.

I've heard in the original cut of TPM he doesn't get cut in half he just falls down the pit.

Lucas added the cut in half thing so people wouldn't think he'd come back for the sequels.

lol get fucked georgie

 No.1296

Why is the disconnection of limbs/major organs/an entire fucking half of someone's body just portrayed as a temporary inconvenience in this series? Hand cut off? Obviously he needs to come to terms with being a one handed and crippled jedi. NOPE ROBOT HAND! Legs cut off, right arm severed at the elbow? Our fallen hero now has to walk around on slow robot legs with a shiny new bionic arm to overcome his disabilities. ROBOT LEGS! ROBOT LEGS! ROBOT LEGS!

Cyborgs were in Star Wars way back to the early concept art. They are part of that common sci fi fantasy design.

Also the GFFA is pretty advanced, it would make sense for them to have better medical technology. Cyborgs are cooler than regrowing the missing limbs.

Because they have the technology and naturally use it. I can even understand Darth Maul surviving long enough to have his body attached to a robotic lower half that can keep his digestive system and circulation going, but surviving days on sith power alone?

 No.1351

>>1306
He survived years in that junk pile without a lower half.

Didn't really make sense why Talzin left him there for all that time either.

I assume most people didn't read the canonical Darth Maul comics where it was revealed that Talzin was Maul's mother and she was angry at Palpatine for taking him from her.

Canon means nothing now. Lucas began slaying it all with the prequels and Disney delivered the evil killing blow…

Lucas created Darth Maul and he was also the one that decided to bring him back.

I don't know if he had input on the Talzin thing but he probably did.

Even small things like Koriban being renamed Moriban in canon were Lucas' decision.

that credit goes to dark horse comics and dave filoni

>dark horse comics

They did it first but it was Lucas that told Filoni to bring back Maul.
