Probably a pleb question to ask, but here goes nothing. How exactly do the armored troops (we'll use the stormtrooper in this example) in the Star Wars universe get killed exactly? I realize they're human or something or other underneath that armor, but how do blasters and the like kill them? I'm not too keen on the lore, but in the games and movies, it seems like they just go down without any marks or anything. This is done for a myriad of reasons I'm guessing, but in the books and whatnot, it's explained in greater depth that blaster are going to leave a pretty nasty wound, right?

go watch any of the movies, especially the original trilogy, great whopping holes blown in everything, smoke everywhere

 No.1710

Armor is pretty much useless in Star Wars unless you're Darth Vader whose can deflect blaster shots with his hand.

Even then, That is an Force ability, nothing to do with Vader's Armor.
Was it Jar kai? or something like that?
Maybe, too lazy to search it up.

it also has to do with darth vader not having real hands

he just uses the force to make sure the shot doesn't hit anything crucial

>>1705

you might want to rewatch episode 4, every stormtrooper that gets shot has blast marks on his armor. basically, the laser bolts zap through the armor and put a nice hole in your chest.

vid related, even though it's fucking faggoty adywan's shit fan edit, it's a good example of my point, skip to 1:35 for the battle

>That is an Force ability, nothing to do with Vader's Armor.

Not sure about that.

If Jedi could do that why didn't they in the prequels?

I assume that Vader's and Grevious's armor are blaster proof in some parts.

Not necessarily related, but deflection was a force power in Knight of the Old Republic 2, and I'm sure it's been used elsewhere.

but not in the prequels though.

If GL had intended that then Mace and the rest of them could have deflected blaster shots with their hands.

 No.1743

>>1738

If GL had intended it? You do realize that he used to sign off on all the books, games, and adaptations, right? Should we also ask why the Empire, an entity with literally millions of Star Destroyers didn't have more with them to defend Death Star II? It's because, like many other universes (ex. WH:40K) in which the actual quantifiable numbers are too large to show on screen/on a board, the directors have to scale up/down the existing entities.

Yoda deflected lightning with his hands. It's probably just way easier to use a lightsaber, which is why it doesn't happen as much.

In the SWTOR trailer Satele Shan blocks a lightsaber with her hands, but it takes a lot of focus on her part.

 No.1817

Different force users are skilled in/able to perform different techniques, energy absorption is one such technique. It was expanded upon in a Corran Horn novel "I, Jedi" I think. The most powerful manefestation demonstrated to my knowledge was a guy who totally drained a lightsabers powersource after being stabbed by it.
