>1. While the video encodes are great, they're not Blu-ray

>Video encoding technology has come on leaps and bounds in the last few years but regardless of how crisp the images look on a digital download version of a film, they will always be trumped by the Blu-ray version. That's because a Blu-ray has far greater storage space for video content: 25GB for a single-layer disc, 50GB for double-layer. A lot of that will be taken up by the audio encode, but the video will still be a mightily large file.

So basically all the movies are out on iTunes but you're better off buying the Blurays since they are higher quality.

Ehhh, goy. Who cares if it costs more than a higher quality Blu Ray?

Or, you could realize that the Blu-ray encode is still shit due to the horrible automated transfer they used.

TPM looks like a waxy mess on Bluray due to excessive DNR.

I know people don't care about TPM but still.

Any comparisons of the itunes release to the blurays?

THE PHANTOM MENACE: Regrained Edition

ATTACK OF THE CLONES: Regraded Edition

REVENGE OF THE SITH: Regraded Edition

"By adding some fine grain to the transfer, I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of detail that I was able to recover that I hadn't even noticed before on the blu-ray. All this detail that had been hiding beneath the DNR had just come right up to the surface, making this new regrained version of The Phantom Menace not only more filmlike but more detailed as well, all considered, a big improvement over the original blu-ray transfer IMHO, especially when viewed in motion."

They're on MySpleen; if you want, I can get you an invite (if you promise not to fuck me over.)

There are some HDTV rips of the prequels that look ok.
