The art and animation is pretty good, but the music tracks he used kills it. Would love to see the same thing with the Williams score instead.

I can't say with certainty, but I think that would have caused him problems. What I do know is that even in highschool our band director had to get permission from disney if we wanted to play any of their music, even at free events, and it was so difficult to get permission that we only played their stuff once in all 4 years I was there.

I personally like this take on the music, I think it fits with the style of animation.

It only would have been a problem if he was monetizing the video, and I don't think he could do that anyway with a Star Wars based video even if it is all original animation.

jk it was pretty good, I'd definitely look into this if it were a full-fledged series.

Also, is it really that commonplace to have bombers dogfighting, especially alongside actual fighters/interceptors, or was this just something done on the creator's whim?

Both the Y-Wing and TIE Bomber are armed with fixed forward firing laser weapons that do them no good as bombers, so logically I'd say they are there for a reason.

Well in the (old) lore Y-Wings were used to engage fighters as well although they were not as effective as more dedicated fighters, and TIE Bombers acted as an anti-fighter missile platform if outfitted with Concussion Missiles.

given the range at which they commonly engage capital ships, I suspect the lasers can cause damage to things such as sensor arrays or other exterior vulnerabilities.
