JJ knows how to make a movie look good. Super8, Into Darkness both looked fucking amazing and had some great scenes. Overall though, it was shit. If they make it 'Quest for Luke's Lightsaber', I don't know how it can't suck. We'd have to see a return to Cloud City and searching around the basement level and then perhaps the gas planet to see if it fell into that. All the while wondering, 'Who the fuck cares about Luke's lightsaber?'

Luke's lightsaber is not a mythical object like Excalibur, it's just a weapon that he lost, not unlike all the dropped blasters.

Luke's blue saber was his father Anakin's saber. Anakin was the "…one who will bring balance to the Force." It was an object from the era in which Anakin was still on the light side and subsequently a tool with which he turned to the dark side with. Sounds pretty damn mythical to me.

All good points. Excalibur, though, had mythical/mystical power. As far as we know the Anakin-Luke lightsaber is just a tool with some cool history. If Abrams now tells us it's Force sensitive because it was used by those guys, then that breaks with midichlorians canon. I'd be all for that if Lucas didn't invent midichlorians and fuck everything up. I always thought that R2 had the Force as well as the Falcon.
I suppose they can fix it all by a saying midichlorians can live in any material, but it's going to be a moment when the audience groans.
If I was a relic hunter - having that level of freedom in the galaxy (because obviously he doesn't have a real job and has loads of money) - I'd hunt down the Falcon and buy it. I'd find Luke and buy everything he had to sell. I'd see if I could buy Leia's panties or anything she had to offer. I'd dig up Anakin's mother's corpse and rub it all over me.
