This is the primary reason I'm so glad that most of the EU, the entire Vong Invasion arc was so poorly handled. They weren't exactly a bad concept or anything, but going and devastating the entire galaxy and having the New Republic collapse was really fucking dumb.

I think the most shitty thing to come out of EU was the constant change in OT character motivation.

I'm unsure whether it was the Vong invasion or some other alien species but I recall reading that Sheev's reason for creating the Empire was so he could defend the galaxy against this massive alien attack.

It just ruins his character completely,

My problem with it is it sort of makes everyone's efforts on the Original Trilogy pretty meaningless. In the end the Galaxy wound up MUCH worse off as a result of their toppling of the Empire.

One of the few things I hated about the EU which I normally love. They were Hellraiser in space and they destroyed Dac and many other of my favorite planets. Also they caused Chewie's death. Fuck these guys, fuck this storyline.

When the New Republic collapsed what remained merged with the Imperial Remnant to form the Galactic Alliance, which went on to win the Vong War and reestablished control of most of the galaxy. During the Legacy of the Force series set ~40 years after the OT Daala returns and gets elected to Chief of State of that.

Thats funny actually, it was mentioned in Kotor by Canderous Ordo who claimed when they fled into the outer rim they encountered a small ship which fits the description of a yuazan vong scout ship and destroyed it. He encountered the species thousands of years before luke and the new republic

Should have allowed post ROTJ to have a happy ending with the end of the GCW, and then moved on to develop the Old Republic era where they had pretty much total freedom to do whatever they wanted.

I could've sworn I made a post discussing my opinion on these jerks…

Anyway, I love a lot of stuff in the EU but I just couldn't stand their presence. They basically made the rebel victory seem pointless. They ruined countless planets, messed up coruscant, caused Chewbacca's death and indirectly fucked up Dac and many other planets and species beyond recognition. Its probably the only EU story I cant enjoy because those damn aliens literally caused too many changes and damage to the entire lore.
