Ok, Stormtroopers, I just got the original trilogy on VHS, pre-special edition, and, after watching them again, I've noticed a lot of inconsistencies between them and the prequels
>stormtroopers are just dudes in uniforms
>the rule of two is BS, as Palpatine wants Vader to make Luke 'become one of us'
>the Obi-wan robe isn't the Jedi uniform, he's in hiding, and wears robes just like everyone else on Tatooine.
>the imperial senate still held power up till A New Dope

>most clones were dead by the time the OT started, so the empire had to recruit fresh people. the best-performing soldiers were cloned.

>the rule of two was very much still intact, palpatine wanted luke as his new apprentice as vader was limited by his mechanical limbs, or vader would prove his worth to his master by killing his own son
>obi-wan's robes are not that of traditional jedi robes but more of a ceremonial robe only worn by a certain amount of members
>the imperial senate was dissolved by the emperor, as tarkin states in every goddamn version

>the imperial senate still held power up till A New Dope

The senate was a completely ceremonial organization at that point. It couldn't really do anything. Power had been vested in the various Moffs. Dissolving the senate only made it official.

>stormtroopers are just dudes in uniforms
No, they're clones, but they're not all clones of Jango. Some are clones of other bounty hunters. The real world reason for this decision is that the actors are not exactly the same height/build.
>the rule of two is BS, as Palpatine wants Vader to make Luke 'become one of us'
Sith have servants such as Asajj Ventress, and remember Sidious also wanted Luke to kill him (or Vader). Sidious really cared about maintaining the rule of the Sith, he didn't care if he died. Luke would take the place of Sidious or Vader.
>the Obi-wan robe isn't the Jedi uniform, he's in hiding, and wears robes just like everyone else on Tatooine.
…so?
>the imperial senate still held power up till A New Dope
Not familiar with this.

>Stormtroopers are clones
When did they establish this idea? I was always under the impression that Stormtroopers were regular dudes by the time the original trilogy came around, as the initial movies gave no indication that Stormtroopers were clones. Also, discontinuing clones would kind of reinforce the fact that the clone wars were distinct from any other time on account of clones no longer being on active duty. Finally, if the Empire already had a standing army, why would they need to clone additional soldiers? I'm not saying they couldn't have retconned Stormtroopers into being cloned, but I also don't remember when that theory came about or why.
>The rule of two is BS
The rule of two is BS, but there isn't anything contradicting it in the actual movies. Palpatine counted on Luke killing Vader and Vader counted on Luke teaming up with him and killing Palpatine.
> Obi-wan's robes.
Continuity laziness, no big deal.
>The Imperial senate still held power until A New Hope.
Leia was an Imperial senator prior to Alderaan's destruction, and the senate was only completely disbanded after the Death Star went operational. Tarkin announces the dissolution of the senate during A New Hope as a means of calming down his commanders, meaning they still had some influence. Still, it is pretty clear that the Senate was essentially powerless by the time they were dismissed, as most of the dissenting senators had already started to support the rebellion.

The earliest it can be traced back that they were intended to be clones is 1995, there is some info from the 70's suggesting it but it's not as solid.

I always took 'Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?' to be an oblique reference to stormtroopers being clones.

And that was in the early 80s.

those are pretty small as far as inconsistencies go. What about something like, Obi-wan in ANH says the republic lasted a thousand generations, but in AotC Palpatine says the republic has only been around for 1000 years. That always bothered me.

Every military not in africa has height standards.

The Post-Ruusaan Reformation one was about 1000 years on the dot, the Republic as a whole lasted several thousands of years longer.

 No.549

The Ruusaan Reformation was a retcon to explain the discrepancy between the two movie quotes though, the quotes themselves are Lucas not knowing what the fuck he was talking about by the time he wrote the prequels. The actual discrepancy between a republic being around for 1000 or 20,000-30,000 years is pretty damn massive.
