 No.3418

It's obviously plastic, but some still claim it is metal.

Thoughts?

 No.3419

>Thoughts ?

Well, interesting question, but just to start, I'm going to be the one giving away what we know from E.U 1.0

Lorewise, there's a mix of materials used on Vader's armor (both metals and plastic, even plasteel, a mix of both) But the hull itself was more metallic if I remember correctly.

Even Wookiepedia remains pretty vague about this http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Darth_Vader%27s_armor

But yeah, vader's helm in VII so far looks like molten plastic.

Though the real costume was just plastic.

I'm disappointed they didn't go with a design more reminiscent of this concept art, makes the helmet look sturdier and metallic

 No.3456

metal makes more sense. that galaxy would have replaced simple plastic. if it was plastic it would start to smell and warp and not hold an airtight seal. it should have been resistant enough not to burn in a simple campfire.

the weird thing is that whoever has the jedi relic fetish had to scoop out vader's burnt head. luke should have just turned the shuttle's lasers on him and obliterated him, or dumped his body out into space to renter the atmosphere in a ball of flames.

 No.3459

>>3456

it's most definitely some sort of fusion, as plastic would be a melted crisp

also, leaving his body on the death star would do the trick, everything/everyone on it was vaporized

 No.3460

>>3459

But Luke had to properly cremate him, It's a Jedi tradition.

 No.3461

>>3460

i dont think luke did it for traditional reasons, considering his jedi training was literally a remote droid and auditioning for tarzan with yoda on his back

 No.3462

>>3461

He learned this tradition from Obi Wan cremating the jawas, though. Or is that just my headcanon talking?

 No.3463

>>3462

There is clearly a lot he learned off screen during Empire Strikes Back, or between Empire and Return of the Jedi. Its not like he just magically knew how to construct a new lightsaber, let alone what parts and materials were needed for that.

Before you say he was just tech savvy enough to figure it out himself, lightsaber crystals and their mystical properties are still canon thanks to Clone Wars/Rebels.

 No.3464

>>3462

c3po was the one doing that as far as we know

>>3463

there most certainly is, luke spent weeks at dagobah as opposed to what seems to be a few days at most. as far as the lightsaber though, luke based his design entirely on ben's saber, and iirc he did find a sort of manual on constructing the saber.

 No.3465

>>3464

>luke based his design entirely on ben's saber

That doesn't seem very likely, Luke never even touched it as far as I recall.

>>3465

consider pics related

anakin even based parts of his sabers off of whatever obi-wan had going, it's a natural thing for the padawan to mimic their master, seeing as how the master puts a part of themselves into their padawans when they teach them

 No.3470

>>3469

you're also forgetting that from when obi-wan rescues luke to obi-wan's death is somewhere around a week, and not just a handful of hours

 No.3472

>>3469

Yeah, that is pretty similar actually. I'm now remembering a bit in Shadows of the Empire where Luke went to Obi-Wan's old hideout on Tatooine, maybe he could have gone there to find some instructions or other documents on how to build a replacement lightsaber. Though of course that isn't canon anymore, but still.

>>3470

Where do you get that idea from?

 No.3473

>>3472

i got it on account of they only have ftl travel, not wormholes or stargates that cause instantaneous travel. what that means is that even though they are traveling faster than light it still takes some time for them to get places.

i break it down like this

beginning of the film to leaving tatooine - about 4 days

- 1st day when the droids arrive on tatooine and get caught by jawas

- 2nd day when droids are sold and r2 runs off

- 3rd day when obi-wan shows up and luke finds the homestead destroyed

- 4th day when they venture to mos eisley and leave the planet

leaving mos eisley to ben's death and escaping to yavin is 2-3 days at the most

also keep in mind that they didn't jump to hyperspace to get to yavin, so yeah about a week

 No.3474

>>3473

Alright I would say your timeline makes sense up until leaving Mos Eisley. The Hyperspace journey to the Alderaan system was a matter of hours, not days. It would also have been impossible for the Falcon to reach Yavin without a hyperspace jump, it took them weeks to reach Bespin from Hoth and those systems were right next to each other. Yavin on the other hand was clear across the galaxy from Alderaan, they just didn't show the jump on screen.

Confirming that the journey to Mos Eisley did not happen on the third day. Detail is at number 8 on the map.

Star wars may be shit in continuity at times, but it really does have its moments

Well noticed

since there seems to be no official canon answer as to what the falcon's top speed is, i'm gonna go by this tor.com article

http://www.tor.com/blogs/2014/12/star-wars-how-fast-is-the-millennium-falcon

skipping all the mathematics, they give the idea that it took the falcon about a day to get to alderaan (while at max speed in hyperspace)

going by that map of the galaxy, it takes a little less than a day to reach yavin, assuming they go to hyperspace again. so combine that with the several hours spent aboard the death star adds up to 2 days give or take.

plasteel… dumbass

 No.3544

plasteel is non-canon

Vader's body became one with the force and vanished like Yoda's

Luke burned his armor

fuck you, you're non-canon

 No.3574

Fire shouldn't have been able to melt the helmet really

The scene of the bonfire is good but it was added as a pick up when they realized dumb people would wonder where Vader went..

we're all noncanon since disney took over.

 No.3600

>>3544

Fuck you sir and your constant reminder of this canon bullshit. Disney's canon can go fuck itself.

 No.3708

Because plasteel and obsidian are non-canon, I'm going to guess that the primary material is durasteel.
