George fucked up the dialog though.

He redid the scene to be "Vader discovers he has a son" but previously in the movie he knows Luke is his son.

i wouldn't say vader necessarily knew prior to the chat that he had a son, anakin skywalker was for all intentions dead and darth vader was thought to be somebody else, so him hearing the name would be a bit of a shock.
