how i determined this: the kanaan comic is all about his padawan days, so his backstory to rebels is fleshed out. the show is also set not very long before a new hope and they will most certainly include tatooine if vader is becoming a regular on the show as well, because disney is riding the shit out of the OT's coat-tails.

The quality of the films is subjective. Personally I would rank them: Star Wars>Empire>ROTS>ROTJ>TPM>AOTC

My main problem with ROTJ and Empire for that matter is that they made Han Solo too important. Star Wars, for me at least, was Luke's story.

I love all the moments with Luke, Vader, and the Emperor in ROTJ, but I can't stand Endor and Jabba's Palace.
