Loved the game, love the books. Read the first 2 or so when I was younger, reading them again now that I'm a more careful reader. I've browsed all the available threads and opinions seem divided on the Republic Commando novels. Why?

I think they're realistic and deal with a psychologically interesting concept of a group of individuals who are slightly more advanced than the normal clones. I love the squad interaction and at least for my sensibilities it produces a strong story atmosphere.

 No.4078

There was controversy over the author and the canonical Clone Wars show contradicting the books.

>>4078

That wasn't exactly the source of the controversy around Karen Traviss. Core problems would be how she molded Mandalorians into a race of giant Mary Sues in her books, and that could not take any criticism at all about anything.

 No.4083

Every time this game is mentioned, you should feel the crushing shame of not saving Sev.

You could have prevented this.

 No.4086

>>4077

because traviss is a bitch and ruins everything she touches

 No.4091

>>4083

>open console

>use ghost command

>fly to Sev

>you still can't do anything

it hurts

>>4086

Traviss is overdramatic and preachy, but she did make some interesting characters.

I fucking hated Kal, the Nulls, Etain and such, but Vau was boss, and the culture as a whole was neat.

I think people play up the mary sue angle too much, only the Nulls were really over the top

 No.4095

>>4091

It wasn't her characters she made into Mary Sues, it was Mandalorians as a whole. She took a group of ruthless warriors who once terrorized the galaxy, and turned them into honorable space samurai who everyone admired and respected.

 No.4099

>>4095

more like "washed-up mercs who can't get over the fact they're not a galactic power anymore"

it was a lot more nuanced than you're giving it credit for

 No.4833

I watched "Missing in Action" from Season 5, and holy fuck, the end scene was Sev all over again.

The moment they introduced Gregor as a Clone Commando I knew it would happen.

What really got me angry is that they never mentioned him afterwards.*

 No.4834

>>4833

>he's back for Rebels

>because why the fuck not

 No.4835

>>4834

I'm amazed he's alive.

I was a bit reluctant to watch Rebels, but I might do it after all.

 No.4838

>>4835

If you liked the Clone Wars show at all you will like Rebels
