So from what I understand from quickly browsing Wookieepedia's article on Episode VII, the two factions are the Resistance and the First Order, (aka Rebel Alliance/Galactic Empire 2: Electric Boogaloo).

My question is, do you anons think that they would introduce more than two factions that would side with either the Resistance or First Order?

If Lucasfilm wants to do something along those lines, I would like to see each galactic faction represent a different form of government, such as:

1. Democracy (Resistance/New Republic, duh)

2. Empire (First Order/Imperial Remnant, duh)

3. Aristocracy/Monarchy/Nepotocracy (Kingdom)

4. Geniocracy/Meritocracy/Technocracy (Scholarly/Academic State)

5. Kratocracy/Autocracy/Stratocracy (Warrior/Military State)

6. Timocracy/Ochlocracy/Ergatocracy (Worker/Communist State)

7. Bankocracy/Corporatocracy/Plutocracy (Corporate State)

8. Kleptocracy/Anarchy/Adhocracy (Criminal State)

9. Kritarchy/Bureaucracy/Nomocracy (Police State)

10. Theocracy/Oligarchy (Religious State)

11. Chiefdom/Band Society (Tribal State)

…and any other form of government that I forgot to mention. Pic related.

>TFW we have all those in the EU

The New Republic we know exists from the stuff about the Battle of Jaku. So I don't really understand why we need a resistance faction as well.

Lets see, there's the Mandalorians (Military Faction), the Hutt Cartel/Hutt Space (Criminal Faction), and the CIS and Corporate Sector Authority (Corporate Faction). Those I can name at the top of my head. Feel free to list more that I haven't mentioned.

Oh really, well good to know that the New Republic exists then. Though maybe they still call themselves the resistance out of a sense of pride for their victory against the empire or something like that.

>1. Democracy (Resistance/New Republic, duh)

yeah

>2. Empire (First Order/Imperial Remnant, duh)

yeah

>3. Aristocracy/Monarchy/Nepotocracy (Kingdom)

Alderaan, Gesl, Kuat (I think), Serenno (where Dooku held the title of Count) and several more

>4. Geniocracy/Meritocracy/Technocracy (Scholarly/Academic State)

I'd say the Arkanians count, as well as the Verpine (maybe) and the Jedi, in a way.

>5. Kratocracy/Autocracy/Stratocracy (Warrior/Military State)

Most notably the Mandalorians of the wars from around 5000-2500BBY

>6. Timocracy/Ochlocracy/Ergatocracy (Worker/Communist State)

Vorzyd IV

>7. Bankocracy/Corporatocracy/Plutocracy (Corporate State)

Any of the CIS financial backers, notably the Trade Federation and the Intergalactic Banking Clan

>8. Kleptocracy/Anarchy/Adhocracy (Criminal State)

Anything in Hutt space, really.

>9. Kritarchy/Bureaucracy/Nomocracy (Police State)

Corporate Sector, also sorta falls under 6 and 7

>10. Theocracy/Oligarchy (Religious State)

Force-using faggots, several minor religions across the galaxy

>11. Chiefdom/Band Society (Tribal State)

Tuskens, Jawas, Mandalorians when not on campaign

What category does the Chiss Ascendancy fall into?

It's an aristocracy.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Aristocra

>Standard and day-to-day decisions were made by a democratically elected parliamentary body from each of the 28 colonies. Issues were siphoned up through the parliament to a cabinet of appointed governors, and then to the ruling families, where a decision made by the parliament and/or cabinet could be approved for action. Each of the extended ruling families was responsible for a set of government affairs to manage: House Sabosen was responsible for social issues such as justice, health, and education; House Inrokini was responsible for industry and science; House Csapla was responsible for colonial affairs, agriculture, and redistribution of resources; and House Nuruodo was responsible for military and foreign affairs. The Csapla's redistribution of resources amongst the Chiss colonies and Csilla was particularly important, given the collectivist-socialist economic system of the Chiss, and led to their relative position at the head of the families, with the others acting in an advisory role. House Nuruodo would be ranked as second, considering the importance of warfare on Chiss society.

My guess would be the Resistance would be a continuation of the Rebel Alliance that operates in Imperial Remnant/First Order held territory.
