Is there a source on this? I know it's a widely disseminated legend among fans, but unless it's addressed somewhere in the divorce dockets, I've never heard straight word left or right from a reliable source on whether it's true. Not that I'm disinclined to believe it.

Sorry if I'm being a total noob and this is actually a well attested piece of knowledge, but the sexual prowess of the minds behind Star Wars is definitely one aspect of SW lore I am very underread on.

The entire story has been made clear by various stories from people around Lucas and was confirmed by Marcia.

Lucas couldn't have kids, maybe due the car accident he was in. Marcia wanted kids so they adopted one around the time of ROTJ production. This didn't really take with Marcia because she wanted her own biological kids, at around this time she started an affair with a gardener that was working for George. They divorced around the time of ROTJ release, Lucas got fucked by the courts for his Star Wars profits and Marcia had some kids with the gardener guy.

How this effected Star Wars?

Death Star getting blown up by the proton torpedoes is probably a subconscious reference to fertilization.

Luke getting his hand cut off by Vader was something Lucas himself described as a castration scene making Luke (Lucas) impotent.

Troubles with wife around ROTJ become big vagina in the desert that eats men.

Jedi aren't allowed to love in the prequels and the Anakin/Padme relationship is wrong and causes all their problems etc.

Enlightening. I always assumed the Jedi being unable to love had something to do with Lucas's divorce, but I had no idea the rabbit hole went this deep.

Also, if this is the case, fuck marcia. Severing the relationship was probably the right thing to do if she wanted kids, but she should have handled it like an adult instead of cheating with the gardener. It's also easy to point at the broken family court / no fault divorce system that made her wind up with tons of Lucas's hard earned cash, but I guess that's not necessarily her fault. Still, fuck her.
