The enterprise vs an Imperial II class Star destroyer which ship would win in a direct confrontation?

 No.4883

star destroyer. SW vs. ST has been done to death. Star Wars always wins.

 No.4886

>>4883

Seriously, I'm a fan of both franchises but I really don't get why diehard Trekkies have such an obsession with the Star Wars vs. Star Trek stuff. Especially when Star Wars has such a land slide of an advantage in almost every category.

Any "vs" that's based on how the in-universe vehicles/ships/etc. will do against each other is autistic crap. If you're going to compare, compare from an out-of-universe perspective on the quality of the shows/films.

Star Wars has 40k beat as well, both technologically and numerically.

No it doesn't. It really doesn't.

Before you ask yes that's a ship.

That's even before you get into Craftworlds and the stuff the Necrons can bring, or even Chaos for that matter.

So it's what, the equivalent of a mobile Golan?

I mean, yeah, 40K might be a little over-the-top, but don't forget the FIRST of many cheese-munching superweapons we saw in SW was the goddamn Death Star, and they only got goofier than that later on. Think, say, galaxy-gun levels of dakka.

Regarding SWvsST: who would win, the explorers who think Klingons and Borg are spooky existential threats, or the various galactic powers who've spent their entire histories in some sort of war or another? Like, say, the Empire that was built from ground up to deal with an existential threat from beyond the galaxy?

why are warhammer ships literally churches in space?

 No.4905

>>4901

Nope that is actually the size roughly of the Death Star II, and there are ships bigger than it.

Also nigger never heard of warp cannons?

Although wouldn't be surprised if Games Workshop tried to own the rights to the idea of a cheese-munching superweapon.

>>4903

Have you never felt the urge to take the Vatican into combat?

 No.4906

>Nope that is actually the size roughly of the Death Star II, and there are ships bigger than it.

refer to >>4899 for the scale of exactly how retarded you are, please

 No.4907

>>4906

also, I forgot to mention the dockyards at Kuat, fleet supply stations, the fuckload of superweapons kicking around in the TOR era…

 No.4909

Star Trek is fairly primitive outside of transporters.

Maybe even Star Wars has them too with Luke talking about "teleporters" in ANH.

when the fuck did anyone mention teleporters?

The biggest size estimates I can find for Port Wander put it at ~30km, others place it at half that size. Its tiny compared to either Death Star, even using the lowest given sizes for them.

>>4906

>Refers to scale that only show average sized 40k Warships

>Doesn't show the larger vessels

Now who is being a complete retard?

 No.4922

>>4914

It's kind of odd that they give that scale but then give Imperium Battleships for scale which are around 10km, which when you look at it are ants compared to that thing.

GW lore is really inconsistent.

 No.4925

>>4886

The die hard trekkies that really want to fight this think they are smarter simply because they only like Star Trek and it is based on "hard science" while Star Wars is for babies because it doesn't explain it's technology at all. And they must prove it with their superior intellect as pseudo intellectuals. Source? Being surrounded by Star Wars bashers my whole life. The irony is the best part though, the more you try to get technical with your fictional technology, the faster it's going to be demolished on inspection.

I love both Star Wars and Star Trek a lot. But when Star Trek starts spouting off about dilithium crystals or gamma rays or positron matrix or "changing optimal matter/antimatter ratios" or neutrinos in the middle of a scene, bullshit alarms just start ringing and I'm taken out because it's just not how things work.

What? It shows all of their biggest battleships, plus one offs like the Black Templar's Fortress-Monastery.

>>4922

The ships docking there are very clearly smaller cruisers, not the massive battleships.

Things have been less certain since the heyday of Star Wars vs. Star Trek. Back in the day the warsies used whatever they could to create huge inflated numbers for their side of things. "the DS2 is 900K in diameter!" "The empire routinely brings thousands of ships into combat!" but alas, canon marches on. The DS2 was officially set at 160K, and the essential guide to warfare stated that the thirty or so Star Destroyers at Endor were the largest ever imperial fleet.

While on the other hand, Star Trek has been getting stronger and stronger in the Abramsverse. Getting from Earth to Qonos in a few hours? Interplanetary transporters? Those are game changers. I wonder if there'll be another round of SW v. ST now that both franchises are alive on the silver screen.

>>4909

I used to think that when Vader talked about the DS plans being "beamed" to the rebel ship he was talking about star trek style transportation.

Everything in Star Trek runs off magic too, they just try to hide it with techspeak.

Star Wars is fantasy and Star Trek is Science Fiction but both still have sound in space.

 No.4941

>>4938

Yeah, that was sort of my point. Star Trek tries to sell itself on "hard science" and the trekkies believe it. And since they believe it they try to start fights about how Star Trek is superior because they "can prove it" with science. Which is sad because it doesn't take in depth knowledge of physics to start calling bullshit when star trek does their techbabble to mask the magic.

>>4941

Yeah you're right. I like both franchises and I've seen every Star Trek series and movie, and it's not really more realistic than Star Wars, it just pretends to be. Sans religion the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica is ironically more realistic technologically.

do people actually refer to sw fans as this?
