If you could have any part of the extended universe made into a trilogy instead of the new trilogy with competent people working on the films, what part of the EU would you pick?

>inb4 thrawn

on a more serious note, i would have kevin j anderson's jedi academy trilogy adapted

it sets up the new jedi order created under luke, starting with a little bit of training with leia but then branching out to a group of random buttfucks from across the galaxy that all band together after fighting the spirit of exar kun.

also, han loses the falcon to lando in a game of sabacc, they go to the spice mines of kessel and rescue kyp durron, who proceeds to get semi-possessed by exar kun and fuck shit up, accidentally killing his brother, with the sun crusher (yes, THE sun crusher). it's also discovered that there's a top secret imperial facility within the maw cluster, where the scientists responsible for creating the death star, sun crusher, and other shit are hanging about. meanwhile, leia is tentatively becoming leader of the new republic due to mon mothma dying. furthermore, the imperial remnant is trying to gain a serious footing after thrawn's shenanigans, and admiral daala is their somewhat commander.

basically, these books were designed to be adapted into movies. darksaber as well.

Nothing in the EU is up to movie standards, it would have be heavily reworked.

The only stuff I think would really deserve movie treatment is something from the KOTOR period or from Legacy. All the EU stuff with Luke/Leia/Han is cheeseball.

 No.872

>>851

legacy? you mean the cade skywalker shit?

all the post-jedi eu with the trio is meant to recapture the space swashbuckling adventures of the ot/marvel comics.

kotor is basically wizard of oz in space and i am perfectly fine with that.

The trilogy had quite a bit of cheese, and that's not a bad thing. People forget how Errol-Flynn A New Hope was

I actually sort of agree with this sentiment. Believe it or not, I appreciate Dark Empire more now that I can read it with the comfort of knowing that it's some weird alternate timeline thing rather than canon. Lelsheevclones really reduces a lot of the impact of ROTJ's ending.

And while I don't hate the shit from the era where Luke and Han get married and have kids and everything, it's weird and I don't particularly miss it as canon. Not saying that whatever JJ cooks up will be better - but I'm sure hoping it will be.

Conversely, it's the same reason I'm pissed why everything from the Old Republic era up through the EU materials set during the prequels is now non canon. That part of the EU was gold, they managed to turn what was objectively the worst part of Star Wars film-wise into the most compelling and interesting setting in its expanded universe, now all for nothing.

Well if it's any consolation, Revan might actually be considered canon. In the behind-the-scenes bonuses of the Clone Wars show (2008), Filoni and Lucas talked about how they wanted to introduce Bane and Revan to the normalfags…they would appear as force ghosts and manipulate The Son (the Mortis Arc) to do their will and seduce Anakin to the Dark Side…they even had fully fleshed out models of Revan and Bane in his Orbalisk armor…however Lucas called at the last minute and decided it wouldn't work out (Sith can't freely float around the galaxy doing badass shit…kinda makes sense though) so they scrapped it…

The good news…Bane ACTUALLY appeared in the series finally of the show as a force ghost…as a dark ethereal ancient samurai looking motherfucker (fanboys were butt-blasted they didn't use the Orb armor…even tho he's a fucking ghost)…he vaguely referenced the Battle of Ruusan how "I was the only one who remained"

And so…if Bane is canon…then technically Revan is at least semi-canon…when Bane discovered his holocron 'n shit

Maybe Kotor, Kotor 2, Galaxies and SWTOR

I'd also like to see a remake of the Droids cartoon as well.

Interesting. I haven't seen TCW but I did watch that webm of the Bane scene some anon posted a while ago. I actually like the design of the Bane ghost (Bane's new design?), and I think the rationale behind it might be that it, in universe, inspired the look of the Darth Vader armor, which is really cool if that's what they were going for.

>remake of the Droids cartoon
Interesting idea, I would love to see this reincorporated into canon. It doesn't hurt anything as far as I know, and it even kinda sorta got referenced in Episode I (Boonta race!)

I'd love a trilogy about Revan and The Exile, although to do movies about Kotor 1, 2 and the book Revan they would have to cut/skim over a lot of the side plots and character stories. It might work better as a TV series like how their doing Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead

tv shows would take too long and could be pushed on further than necessary

a limited series would work, like 5 seasons per game type of deal. plus if anything they would use the kotor comics or swtor as a tv show since its got 300 years of lore now just sitting around in non-canon space.
