I haven't seen a lick of Rebels or any TCW beyond the shitty movie that was in theatres. Just got done torrenting both series. Do you guys recommend that I watch TCW first, or is there not really that much continuity between the two?
I was going to start with Rebels, just because its one season is more manageable plus I'm more interested in its era / setting of Star Wars.

>>805TCW is great because it doesn't portray Anakin as the whiney brat that we got in the prequels, it actually builds on his character and portrays him as the great, but tragically flawed man that Obi Wan remembers in A New Hope…It also showsthat the force isn't just
>muh light side da bestest>muh dark side a shitIt touches on some morally grey areas when it comes to being a force sensitive…or just living in the galaxy in general, even showing the individual struggles of the Clones and how they cope with being bread for war, much like the mature version of Star Wars we have always wanted to see
The show also gets pretty dark for a Cartoon Network show, like 80's-90's Cartoon Network…with beheadings n' shit

No.833
>>809That actually sounds very good. I think the clear-cut line between good and evil worked well in the original trilogy, not so much in the prequel. What made Darth Vader turning on the Emperor such a powerful moment was that it was clearly shown that the dark side was completely depraved and evil, and yet he fought against this corruption to save his son.
In the new trilogy, that didn't work. Perhaps because they have shown that the dark side doesn't just draw from evil, but also from good intentions, i.e. Anakin trying to save his loved ones. Made it harder to view it as the ultimate evil it was portrayed to be in the first trilogy. They created somewhat of a grey area and then made nothing with it.
And frankly, I don't see how Anakin was ever on the light side to begin with, now that I think about it. He admired the jedis and Obi Wan in particular, and that's it. His struggle against the dark side seemed shallow.
TL;DR you're the first person who made me interested in that show. Good work, anon!

Ahsoka was the worst thing in Clone Wars, total Mary Sue.
Now here she is in Rebels to Mary Sue it up again. How long till they work her into Luke and Darth Vader comics?
They'll probably retcon her as playing some vital role off screen in Return of the Jedi or something.
No.860
>>840I disagree, Ahsoka in seasons 1-2 was pretty much just a side character with a punk ass additude…like an entitled brat
>hurr durr I'm Anakin Skywalker's apprentice!!! I'm sooo kewl 'n speshul :D:D:D"This was kind of the reason why she was not liked my the majority of fans in the beginning…
However as the show went on, she began realizing she was not nearly as special as she thought she was…and at some point where her time was to be tested as a leader…she got one of her squad members killed…because she didn't have what it took in the moment to lead.
She became very well developed as a character by the end of seasons 3,4, and 5…with all of her flaws and a "certain" situation that happens at the end of Season 5…she became a huge fan favorite character and one of my favorite SW characters ever…behind Revan and HK-47 of course…

>>833Give it a shot anon, the show tells some pretty epic and dark stories later in seasons 4,5, and 6…but season 1 is generally regarded as the worst season, because of the overall kiddy feel Lucas intended to start off with…with the exception of like 5 or 6 episodes

These Stormtroopers are freaking incompetent as crap. Serious even the stupid Battle Droids from TCW weren't this pathetic. A team of five and a droid managed to outwit and outrun and escape the grasps of whole troops with ease? Board a Star Destroyer undetected? Take control of an Imperial Communications Tower like no one's business? And now they're bringing back all crappy elements from the CGI series instead of improving the current elements of this series. Also all these reference to the past series in the upcoming season pretty much convinces me that these bastards won't bother referencing anything from the EU and are just gonna play it safe to avoid messing with the new movie and not confuse the fucking casuals. Also sending in Darth Vader and Tarkin, two of the most recognizable figures in the Empire below the Emperor himself to take out a few rebels rather than sending a few tactical generals or more inquisitors? Seriously? I guess we won't even see the 501st…

>Also all these reference to the past series in the upcoming season pretty much convinces me that these bastards won't bother referencing anything from the EU
Obvious you have never actually watched either show, Clone Wars and Rebels have re-canonized lots of EU content, and I see no reason they won't continue to do so.
>Seriously? I guess we won't even see the 501st…
Yeah, I'm sure the 501st legion, ==Vader's Fist== won't be anywhere to be seen now that Vader is entering the fray.
No.2802

Resorting to sarcasm and accusations simply because someone stated something you don't like? Quite mature there.
I've watch every single damn episode of Clone Wars and there was barely any EU material within the series until the final few seasons of it. Before that, CW made countless retcons. And Rebels has hardly re-canonized "lots of content", at best a few references and elements here and there, but hardly anything that can be considered the restoration of stories from the EU. Having Meilooruns hardly means that the X-Wing series of novels have been re-canonized. And even if Vader shows up with his troopers it s likely that they wont even use the title of "Vader's Fist". At best they'll just call them elite stormtroopers or nothing at all (or if we're lucky they'll bother to call them the 501st). Of course the fact that my mere opinion bothered you so much likely means that you are only fan of these two series and were not fond of EU content at all (oops looks I assumed something about you without even knowing you).
