Modding PC games is one of my favorite things ever. So, mod discussion belongs here.

I'm downloading Need for Speed black edition and STALKER shadow of chernobyl and I was hoping some kind anons could point me towards or create some nice modlists for both games?

Pic is my favorite mod for any game.

I modded Age of Mythology for like 4 years when I played it. Made the game have so much more content.

What are the best mods for it, if you rememer? I need to replay it.

9b1ade No.11645

modding smash brawl made me realise that modding would be the bane of consoles, no one would buy their remasters and yearly games anymore.

hell even with all the new modes and chars on smash 4, it's still absurdly inferior to any of the 3 mods of brawl.

Go to aom.heavengames.com, they have the largest database of downloads for mods that exists.

Thorvald the Ruler, Bravesword, and Ring of the Nibelungen are all fucking amazing scenarios, if you're just looking for maps to play.

I do a lot of modding on my PS3, my current games to mess with right now is GTAV and GirlFight, I've been messing with the eboot.elf in GirlFight to make the game run in 1080p, but the game runs at 1920 by 720p instead for some odd reason, I tried to reflect the resolution changes in the PARAM.SFO but then the game states that the files are corrupted, which are not because I properly rebuilt the eboot.elf, I just gave up on that.

GTAV however is pretty neat, I have a few trainer menus and I've changed a few of the in game textures, once GTAV releases for pc I'm going to rip all of the textures from that and port them for use on the ps3, I don't know if the models can be ported however since the file types may be different (they are in GTAIV)

My build for my PS3 is 200A1 4.46 REBUG DEX with devkit/testkit options enabled in the debug menu, I also have an option to edit what's in my PS3's memory on my PC via ethernet cable.

As far as my knowledge on the PS4, Sony is so against people making even the most minor of changes to games, look at how the PS4 encrypts your saved data, it's unnecessary.

I've also been wanting to register as a indie dev with Sony to make file manager tools or a mesanger client that can run in the background so you can chat while playing games, and if I had a small team maybe even try to port Gimp image manipulator to the PS4, but according to the community rep software that can modify data even on external drives can't be made on the PS4 because they fear hand thing that may pose as a threat to their precious system.

As much as Sony marketed the PS4 as being a "PC equivalent" they sure as fuck don't want people people using it like one.

co8.org has the mod for Temple of Elemental evil that basically tripled the game content and fixed all of its bugs, which allowed its gameplay underneath to really shine

No idea on Need for Speed, but STALKER: SOC

>Complete 2009

My advice is to stay away from this, I've heard people say good things about it, but more people have said it makes the game too easy.

>LURK

My current game. I've been liking it. It lowers the weight limit to 35 kilos, which forces you to really tailor yourself to the situation, and makes taking advantage of stashes much more important. Downsides are that the artifacts now are only for selling, and the enemies can see you from a long ways away, although with proper situational awareness this is less of an issue.

>AMK 1.4

Heard good things about it, many other mods (Like LURK) use it as a starting point. You need Stalker 1.0004 ideally or 1.0005 with the patch in order to play it. No personal experience with it as my pirated copy is 1.0006.

>Autumn Aurora

Another good one, makes the game look more autumnal, and I think it is also based on AMK. I've had problems installing it, the 4gb patcher always bugs out on me.

>Zone of Alienation

To my knowledge it basically does bugfixes, although I think it does add some new things. Arguably the closest to the vanilla experience.

>STALKERSOUP

Translated Russian kitchen sink mod. Total thing is about 15 gigs in size and the download is about 17 parts including the patches. I've played it once, got frustrated due to my own stupidity, and haven't gotten the motivation to re-install it yet. The mod adds in a pile of stuff. New weapons, some new enemies, increased carry weight, increased spawn rates, new/tweaked story, a freeplay mode, new maps, and it has more items than Wal-Mart. In my opinion it strays from the vision of SOC, but I've heard much praise for it.

If it's your first time playing, don't install any mods. Play it through at least once to get a feel for how the game is meant to be played. Make sure you play it on Master difficulty, on lower difficulties bullets have a chance of disappearing the moment they leave the barrel, this applies to both you and the enemy. The effect of this is that all the enemies turn into bullet sponges and sniping becomes pointless.

I put my hands on the Hotline Miami 2 wad, I can't wait for the editor to come out. This far I edited some graphics, but I still can't edit the name of the masks. Anybody have some clue? They neither are in the strings file nor in png files, as far as I saw

Restored cut content mods are a wonderful WONDERFUL thing. Got me to repurchase the KOTOR games on the PC, as well as get a Sonic bundle pack.

If I see a Christmas NiGHTS restoration mod for the PC version, then I'm gonna snap up NiGHTS.

I learned how to mod Clausewitz engine Paradox games back in 2011 during a boring summer. It got to the point where I learned how to mod everything that could be modded, although I'm not autistic enough for map, history, or font modding since they require insane amounts of autism and are stupidly fiddly.

I mostly mod the games to apply small tweaks here and there for my personal enjoyment, like fixing the shitty CK2/EU4 map and borders, or fixing the constant rebel uprisings in Vicky II. I also try to figure out ways to buff the AI since Paradox often adds in mechanics in its patches or expansions that are really meant for the player and the AI simply can't handle at all. Stuff like lowering building prices or empire formation for AI players in CK2, or extra mana and lowered inflation in EU3/EU4, or removing the bankruptcy CBs and buffing AI factory outputs in Vicky II.

It got to the point in 2012 where someone asked me to do a public release of one of my mods back during the glory days of /gsg/ back on halfchan. I kept at it for a few months but eventually it led to so much drama that I peace'd out. /gsg/ never really recovered, my mod passed down along the hands of a bunch of modders, and now exists in a couple of different forms. It was nice to see that these basic few tenets of tweaking the game to make it playable without overhauls struck a chord.

Now I just play quietly with my own personal mods. I don't want to upkeep a mod for anyone else again, it's horrendous.

But yeah, PDS modding. Fun stuff, horrendous logic structures, autistic map/history tracking, HoI3 modding destroys souls.

Think this has a chance?

Every previous attempt to put MP into SP games has failed, Fallout primarily.

I only ever used mods in two games, M&B Warband and short durations in skyrim, I feel like I need a dummy's guide to modding can anyone refer me to a full blown dos and don'ts?

ce1774 No.16053

>>15887

It varies way too much from game to game, because they are made in different coding languages and engines. Some games have modding support, like M&B, and others rely only on the community to modify files and make mods happen, like the GTA series.

The only way to understand how to mod a game is to lurk on the game's forum or a community dedicated to modifications for that game. It helps GREATLY if you know how to code and understand how softwares work.

I love alt-history mods for /gsg/ games like the Liang mod (what if China and the Dutch were the best) or the apocryphal CK2 mod

I remember getting that multiplayer mod when it came out. A lot of fun for a while, but it's not something you'd put more thme into. Probably the most fun I've had with JC2.
