Even if you get Rom to teleport and bum rushed him again, he would just start using his AOE attack, and the spiders would prevent me from getting far enough to avoid the blast.
I went with killing all the little guys, then attacking Rom. Worked for me after a while, but still got killed with either the little spider's one hit kill move, double teamed, or Rom's meteor shower during the process.
f87f4a No.12200
>>12185The tactic I eventually managed to beat Rom with involved:
Starting phase: Kill all little spiders first, then smack Rom around.
The rest: Stay just close enough at all times so that Rom won't use the long range icicle bombard. If you're by the edge and he uses it, closing in or several side dashes usually save you. If there's little spiders in the way, kill one and wait for Rom's next attack. Rush in and attack Rom after its attack (or kill another spider if they're still in the way). Repeat until dead.
At short-mid but not point-blank ranges you need to know only these two moves that Rom does: When he arcs his back, lifting his head and tail, he does an AoE blast attack. Short range. When he rolls onto his back, icicles are gonna shoot out from the ground. Backdash to safe distance.

The ones in the nightmare frontier die in the swamp if you run them into it. I think the 3 outside of Reborn's gate can be killed by the pig's charge. It does huge damage and can drag you across the arena for more damage if he catches you with it. Henryk can get caught on tombstones and attacked pretty freely just like Gascione. I might be reading a bit too deeply into the games story-telling, but I noticed something between the Clinic and Church where you send people
They represent two sides of the same coin, and both mean cruel ends to the people you send there but in different ways. It's highly implied there's something seriously wrong with the Clinic, if it's not people being turned into Aliens or that Insight-sucking thing in the backyard or Iosefka being absolutely bonkers - but there isn't anything wrong with the Church. Yes, the cripple is unnerving and all, but he doesn't pose a threat to anyone you send in there - everyone is perfectly safe, but as to why they are is another story.
Iosefka actually gives you Insight for bringing people to her, unlike the Church - we know Insight is basically the stat for seeing the things man was not meant to see, so from this we can take that Iosefka represents the Great Ones, or all things eldritch, things entirely out of our control - unlike the Church, which is entirely man-made. Despite the cripple being quite peculiar he's perfectly normal and non-hostile, and according to his own words the incense keeps the beasts away, a completely common and usual product of human make. The Clinic is purposefully inhuman and weird, while the Church is purposefully human and just a regular church.
The Clinic represents our undoing by the hands of Great Ones or things not of this earth, but the Church is about us and how we're also our own predator - nobody in the church dies from something inhuman, but by each other - Arianna gets killed by the priestess, the old lady sedates herself to the point of hallucinating, or the strange peasant in the woods who kills people in the church off, presumably to sate his bloodlust. Even when Arianna is impregnated meaning you can kill her for a Umbillical Cord, she's not in the church, but cast down into the sewer.
In this sense, the Clinic shares a lot of similarities with Byrgenwerth. Humans turning into a Great One (Byrgenwerth has people-Amygdalas, the Clinic the Celestial Emissaries), not to mention the tentacle-headed enemy clothed in rags whose grab attack steals Insight from you. It's eating your knowledge of the eldritch Truth, which implies it's what might happen to people who discover it. Is this what lining the brain with eyes means, or at least a failed attempt at it? These creatures generally appear in an area with an NPC that is kind of out there, be it Master Willelm or Iosefka. It craves knowledge of the Truth, just like these two people.
I seriously hope my ramblings make sense because this is some genuinely cool shit.

So what causes members of the Healing Church to have much more powerful Beast forms? Cleric Beast, Vicar Amelia and Father Gascogine are all members of the church in some way, and all of them have unique forms unlike anything you encounter that isn't affiliated with the Healing Church, and by extension the Choir, which we know have dabbled quite heavily into all things Eldritch. We know hunters dabbled in "the old blood", and it's unlikely the Church Hunters did not do exactly that as well - but to what extent? Church-affiliated beasts have nothing in common with regular beasts you encounter elsewhere in both size and strength, not to mention the personal touches to them - the horns on both the Cleric and Amelia, Gasocigne looking remarkably much like he did before only more monstrous… Is it safe to assume that the Church took parts in a more refined version of old blood, or something else entirely? Is this what happens when humans unaffected by the Truth? Master Willelm allegedly used the old blood to ascend, but we know he at least had some form of knowledge of the Truth, wanting more - he's largely human when you find him and has turned blind because of his attempt to ascend like Rom did, his mind instead cracking under all the knowledge.
Or is it the other way around, that these people were the "good" results of exposure to old blood? They're superior to a regular human being, be it speed, endurance or power - and Willelm is a failure in that he just went blind instead of becoming something more than human?
Just rambling again, but this genuinely weirds me out - how does this stuff work in the setting, anyway?

It might have to do with there being multiple old ones with different personalities and tastes as well. They may just bless those that they seem fit with a bit more power in their transformation.A lot of members with the church are big on experimenting with the old blood like Losefka who is turning people into aliens. Their robes are probably the torn remnants of that uniform when they mutated into whatever they are now. You can find their handiwork in the Hypogaean Gaol where you go if they kill you - you can find multiple citizens of Yharnam in a progressed state of becoming a beast hurdled up in the cells, and they're the most prominent humanoid in the area at the time, although this changes when you get access to the full area, instead leaving way to Amygdalas and mutated Citizens that deform and reform through blood. Their finite access to magic probably lies in the affiliation to Amygdala, which seems prone to grant Arcane powers to its followers. As for the beggar, I feel like he's a "correct" beast that someone who haven't dabbled in the eldritch becomes - maybe it's the final evolution of the bigger werewolves you encounter in the game, or is he something else entirely? He's the only character that seems to have some form of control over his transformation, so it could be assumed he's not even human to begin with - nobody in the whole game is able to do this other than him, be they affiliated with the Church or not. 77a10e No.12676

Moon presence is nameless and Oedon is formless. Since the first note talks about transcending the hunt. Is that why the other hunters stopped dreaming or gave up on the hunt of beasts?

It would explain why the hunter npcs comment on the doll and are assumed to have been to the hunter's dream before they stopped dreaming. Eileen is also a hunter of hunters who have lost control of themselves. The self-awareness may have gotten to them over time, which is what caused them to lose themselves in the nightmare. Gascione states that everyone will become beasts eventually anyways, which is why he kills his wife and everyone else. The hunters that no longer dream may have given up on the dream as well, which is why they can't return to the hunter's dream and respawn.Who knows though. They can bleed and be killed by human weaponry, so it's doubtful they are almighty gods - it's that their powers make them seem godly, which is why they were worshipped. Most if not all of them (well, minus Rom) have different things to them that imply a connection to humans. Amygdala has human hands, the Celestial Emissary are humans turned into "host bodies" by the Choir, Mergo's Wet Nurse just looks like a mutated humanoid… Very few of the Old Ones seem to have no real connection to humans (like Ebrietas or Moon Presence), but at the same time they don't seem to do much more than exist. His stupidity and empty mind is what made him viable to get "eyes on the inside", which Micolash actively says he got unlike everybody else. Willelm was a brillant scholar, but was unable to ascend - could it be that humans are too intelligent to be able to handle it? >"Together with the left behind Great One, they look to the skies, in search of astral signs, that may lead them to the rediscovery of true greatness.'' That's an odd way to describe Rom.That text is not referring to Rom; it's referring to the Daughter of the Cosmos, who was the first Great One with whom Willem's inner circle had legitimate interactions. That inner circle became the Choir, which erected the Healing Church and the monument to that Great One within the Upper Cathedral.
The "vacuous" adjective used to describe Rom is tongue-in-cheek. Prior to blood ministrations, the spider known as Rom was mundane, but its metamorphosis conferred it with unfathomable power and ritual prowess. As a result, this Great One is so enlightened that it hides its true nature from Willem and others.

It's probably way too late, but his attacks do blood damage. I've also heard he can be backstabbed when casting his fuck you buff, so he doesn't get as aggressive later in the fight and he doesn't negate every ranged attack either.
Martyr sucks dick though when he decides to spam his magic all day every day as it can easily kill you and deny you access to getting near him. Once he stops casting like a cunt, then you can get in close for a few hits before he fucks off back into the air again. You can use the terrain (pillars/floor) to eat some of his magic attacks, but beware of the blood ball as it has tracking, can go through objects and can ruin you if you don't run away. Later on, he'll use more melee attacks and stay on the ground longer for possible ripostes if he doesn't have the fuck you buff on.
I would have helped, but I no longer have a character in that level range until I level up my Arc build a bit more. However, I'd rather level up another quality or Blt character than take Arc into a fight with Martyr. What retard decided to completely fuck over mages and then stick the only available early magic gems behind bsb and the forest glitch? The split damage weapons are an arc trap as they scale so much better with a quality build and they can't even be buffed. The elemental buffs are the same for everyone and are static The spells/tools scale for shit against ng+/challice enemies and they aren't even that hot in ng. Points put into str/skl become useless when you go pure arc, so that's a waste too.
Oh well, I just need the chalice trophy for the plat now and then I'm done.

If From really wants to put mmo bs in BB, then they could at least give us a lobby to organize dungeon co-op/pvp. It would make multiplayer much easier to organize. Also, hunter npcs are commonly forming groups in-game, so why can't we? It's not like in the other games where the slayer of demons/chosen undead was way too late to the party. There were still plenty of humans to be found upon our arrival into the nightmare and many hunters still roaming around.

>>13487I thought the dungeons were in response to other souls games lack of replayability. Obviously they're all good games someone can sink hundreds of hours into, but they lose something once you've memorized enemy positions.
From already attempted to address this with the new enemies placed in ng+ of das2, but it seems maybe they're looking for better single player replayability. Except it seems there's a certain amount of tension created from being weak at the start that still hasn't been addressed.
77a10e No.13557
>>13530In terms of mages. Tossing an arcane or fire gemstone in an early chest would help greatly. It could even be one of those 1.00% gems and it would help mages get started early rather than being gimped dps. The spell issue is kinda iffy though. If the spells are too good for their level then you'll end up with another das where melee builds take the strongest spells for their already strong builds. In my opinion, placing spells into the 50+ range and allowing arcane to scale a bit better past 50 could help mages specialize and be effective without allowing cookie cutters to take their tools.
BB's atmosphere is fantastic and I got my money's worth solo. I just wish they would make it easier to co-op with others. I helped get 20+ people through Father G yesterday and I was helping with BSB and Amelia today. The point being that while the single player is fun, I personally prefer to assist and play with others.
On another note, there's a lot of lore for the dlc, so there's plenty more that they could add or change. I'm sure the game will only get better from here.
I believe that BB is a great game, but that it could be even greater.

Alfred states only during the first time that ask about the Vilebloods that a scholar from Byrn-something betrayed the others and took old blood to cainhurst castle where the vilebloods were born. Eventually Martyr and his executioners make their way there and kill everyone and Martyr stays behind to keep the immortal Queen locked up in an illusion.

Vials and bullets are a non-factor. You seemed to forget entirely about gems and chunks. The only thing that can compare is the bladestones from DeS. DaS wasn't grindy in the slightest, so I'm not sure why you're being completely delusional there.
BB is easily the most grindy of the too and DeS was nothing in terms of grind, because Thomas is still there. The only way someone could honestly say that DeS was the most grind-oriented of the series is if they were deadset on justifying their purchase just like the tortanic fags before them.

>30 hour download time remaining
Yeah my internet is ass.
Fuck fuck fuck. How can I possibly wait 30 hours that's like next fucking century. The worst part is the download lets you play a bit of the game when it reaches the 5gig mark, so I got to play up until Father Gascoigne before reaching a gate that said I needed to install the rest before being able to continue. Playing the game briefly like this has made me that much more rabid to play the rest and this wait is honestly killing me.
I left no stone unturned up to that point and searched the shit out of Central Yarnham. I'm really impressed with the level design in terms of layout, probably the best I've seen so far in Souls. Graphics are a bit disappointing thus far, however my television I'm currently playing on is one of the shittiest televisions in the world and it makes PS4 games look like PS2 games. Combat is very nice and seems to be the best so far in the series. World aesthtic is nice and atmosphere is dense, but knowing beforehand that the game doesn't have as much as Dark Soul's variety is a minor downer. Also knowing that there are far fewer weapons and armors reduces the reward of the exploration factor and makes the world feel a bit more empty, despite being so intricately crafted (truly a work of art). So far I've played it completely offline because I'm still waiting for the rest of the download and update of course.
But yeah, LOVING it so far. I died once to Cleric Beast and I beat Father Gascoigne on my first try (am I gud?). I can see that this will probably become my second favourite in the series after Dark Souls 1 but it's obviously still way too early to call. First impressions says second best though and the love is most certainly there. I love this, Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1 tremendously; DaS2 not so much.
