What's the most overpriced game in history (base game only)?

What about the most overpriced collector's edition? Base game + all DLC? Can anything top train simulator or Evolve in this regard?

To clarify, I mean original sale price or on re-release. RRP, not rare games that have gained value over time.

For me, probably skyrim. I think it was fucking $60 retail for PC and I then got the dawnguard expansion for $20 more.

This was before I discovered this thing called marketing, so fuck me I deserved to lose every penny

There's probably some that have been more expensive, but would the original .hack games (IMOQ) count, considering it was pretty much one game split into four releases from what I remember? At $50 for each part (to be fair I'm not sure how much PS2 games sold for new; didn't have the system back then, but I'm guessing they'd be at least $50 or $60 each) that's about $200 for the whole thing if you were to have bought each installment when they were new.

I recall hearing that various Idolmaster games have an insane amount of DLC . Not sure if it beats out Train Simulator though.

Idolmaster 2's DLC comes to around 150,000 yen ($1,250 currently) so it still can't beat the reigning champ Train Simulator's $4,823.77.

Steel Battalion for the Xbox cost $200 at launch. It came bundled with a special controller that was necessary to play the game.

Is there anyone out there that's actually bought all of that (like something ingame that rewards collecting them all), or is the expectation that people merely pick and choose favorites? I'm just wondering.

>collectors edition
That one has to go to the million dollar edition of Saints Row.
>base game
Outside of outliers like steel battalion, most AAA games released in Australia could count. Beyond Earth was originally on steam on the AU store for 50 bucks but was bumped up to 110. GTA 5 costs 75-105 depending on where you get it from.

Easily the latter.

Also, I wouldn't count Steel Battalion.

What about DJ hero? That game was like a hundred something dollars and it played like shit.

How about those Star Citizen game packages? I'm not sure about which category they would fit into, but they go up to 15k.

The latter.

Train Simulator usually gets shit by people who wouldn't play it anyway.
It's really for the people who have or used to have model railroads. If you look at how much those cost, TS isn't all that bad with it's pricing.
You don't need all those trains and you're not supposed to buy them all.

If you're still sore about H0 models not being made anymore and don't have the space or you don't want to get shit from your wife for buying another 300€ train then TS is a nice alternative. She'll never know about that new train you bought.

Although prices are ridiculous for some ships, it's supposed to be more of a donation. Shall the game ever come out you supposedly can't buy ships for real money at all and buying in-game money is capped.
We'll see about that.

>million dollar edition
Did anyone buy that? I wonder if Volition would actually let them to be honest.

Talisman digital is an absolute beast for expensive DLC, especially considering most of it is just single characters.
