OK for example Final Fight, Spikeout, Def Jam and WWF No Mercy are about fighting, no doubt about that right?
But they aren't
fighting games in the strict sense of the genre, they are brawlers and wrestling games
A wrestling game is one in which you move in an arena and you perform several moves, normal or contextual, until you submit your opponent. He might have a health bar in which you can weaken him to make a submit easier or a crazy momentum/stamina/etc bar/meter to know where to make the finishing move
A brawler game is one in which you get several tough guys in front of you and you beat them until they get out of the screen while you continue your path, they can possess health bars or damage meters to drain them and they can even be taken out with contextual moves or if you get rid of them from the screen. Sounds familiar?
Come on, no shitposting in both ends of the field here, it's just healthy discussion. The thing is some people, which i hope you are not, are not interested to hear and just close themselves in badly-imposed tags to make them feel more respected due to the name/fame of the tag/genre.
I think they should just compete and make themselves be respected on their own, which i think can be easily done because Smash is a tough game to compete due to the high amount of people and their time training
