/svidya/ is a strict /v/ alternative for moderated vidya discussion. This Board wasn't intended to replace /v/ but to aid Anon's in having vidya discussions with zero shitposters. Thanks for adding /svidya/ to /v/'s recommended boards, Mark.

I used to make these threads on /v/ and had a fair bit of success with them. I want to see how well it goes on /svidya/

Basically, post a video game you haven't played yet but want to try, and provide feedback to anons who post games you've played before.

So: Singularity. Good or Shit?

It blurs the line between good and shit. It was alright. It was a lot better before Activision started fucking with the game, because in the beta it was a lot less casual and had a lot more environmental factors to deal with as well as deeper puzzles and more interactables.

Good gameplay concept, alright story, but was casualized before release. Take from that what you will.

Now THUG, good or shit or da shit.

Thug's da tru sheet
Best Tony Hawk along with Pro Skater 3, which are the best "Xtreme" sport games around since the genre is long dead
A little more "realistic" in terms of context (plot, levels, targets) but the gameplay is just as arcade, if not a little more.
Very recommended if you like arcade-style mechanics in short bursts along with THPS3 or 4

Is Jak X really worth it for a budget collector?

Sorry I haven't played the 3 games yet ITT so can't answer.

Is this good or shit? I've heard some people comparing it to legend of grimrock (which I love), and I'm thinking it might be the next game I get for my 3ds.

Damn good shit. You use the touchscreen to map out the dungeons you explore yourself.

I'd reccomend the other games, too. And the upcoming one. They're all great.

I got this game because I heard people praise it as a surprisingly great shooter. Is it?

If you're only wanting a Jak expierence (1-3) you're playing the wrong game.

If you want a racing game with weapons and the most satisfying drifting/boost to date. Then you're in for a treat. Decent difficulty, decent story, lots of modes in the story. Expect to be doing 360+ degree drifts at least once in your playthrough. You get boost while drifting, and gain it faster then how much you spend while boosting. Easy way to get max boost in the arena modes

>>12861
Playing it currently. It's satisfying, but expect to be confused about how to build your party for a while.

Yay or nay for pic related? Ive been hankering for a hoenn remake since ever, but i'm worried about not having the Battle Frontier

Good imo but I'm kinda a pokemon addict , it's essentially X/Y with new toys , follows a similar progression as Ruby and Sapphire but with a Delta episode going into Rayquaza at the end.

Frontier is replaced by a exact Copypaste of Battle Maison from XY , it holds up but nowhere near as much to do. Tho will give the island looping round in a continuous path with the IV checker in the pokemon center a honourable mention as it's really convenient for post-game breeding if you're into that.

Tbh as with most recent pkmn games you will get more out of multiplayer than you would solo ,,, if you want solo play emulating one of the original RSEs is prolly your best bet

Got pic related for xmas like 2 yrs ago. can't bring myself to play it cus I heard how bad the other ones before it were

Nay. My brother who was the type of pokemon autist that made it out like pokemon was the only video game that exists and was his entire life, confessed to me after he finished it that he's finally dropping pokemon because of these remakes. He did play sapphire and loved it, but apparently this new one was just wrong.

Replay pokemon emerald on an emulator. I might get a delta emerald if they actually do make one, but pokemon pretty much is dead to me past black/white2.

>Is it?

Eh. I got sick of it after a couple of hours due to the invariably linear level design.
The gunplay's nothing special.
The enemy AI, (which is usually touted as the game's selling point) is really good, but it doesn't affect a whole lot when the levels are all linear corridors interspersed with the occasional shooting gallery.

Although it's entirely possible I just didn't play it long enough for it to come into its own.

I think FEAR and even the expansions are great games. The shooting is absolutely stellar, the AI is a lot of fun to fight and the horror is ok. The environments are a bit boring and feel very barebones, but as far as shooting dudes goes it's still one of the best. The sequels all suck ass, though.

Red Orchestra 2 both singleplayer and multiplayer

Good or Shit?

>>12871
It's horrible. Very scripted, very boring and it has the same assassins creed open world formula of go to an area, hit a tower and suddenly everything in the area is highlighted. The actual gameplay is mediocre.

Singularity is the kind of game that you think back on and you remember it being better than it was. It's a very competent shooter, but nothing amazing. If you can get it cheap, definitely play it; I'd say the $10-20 range would be fair.

eh, I played it and wasn't really too impressed

If you played on an organized team then it's a different beast, but as is it's just average/mediocre

Probably worth it if it's on sale

I've heard hardcore RO fans bitch a lot about it, but I really like the game, even if I kinda suck at it. There isn't another online game that gives you the feeling of being on an actual battlefield. Forget about singleplayer, though. It's just multi maps with bots. It's fine to play for a while to get familiar with the controls, but spendning any more time in it is pointless.

Good.

Not great, not a timeless classic, but good.

It does have CoD gameplay but the powers make it more interesting and some of the guns are pretty awesome. The story is good. The setting is great.

It stands out as a rather unique and memorable game, and one that I'm kind of sad we never got to see more of. Basically a weird one-off that Activision had made, didn't market at all, and promptly forgot about.

It was however also linear and, as mentioned, basically built on CoD's foundation.

I'd definitely recommend it, and I do think it's a game you shouldn't miss out on. Pirate though because fuck Activision.

My father played it and I think he enjoyed it. I helped him in some spots when he just couldn't git gud. It seemed alright from what I remember, but nothing spectacular. Probably just a decent shooter with a mildly interesting gimmick(manipulation of time or something like that with a gun).

>>12864
Great shooter. My father didn't know there was slow motion in it, and when I showed him he barely ever used it, just when there were tons of enemies he'd go behind a corner, activate it, peek out and spray and pray, rinse repeat. He enjoyed the game.

Pic related. It got some sort of update on Steam so there's no GFWL anymore and I think there's also some other improvements. It looks really neat from the gameplay videos I've seen. Is it good?

I haven't played it a lot, but I didn't really like it. I had to play it on a pad and I sucked ass, so I'm not sure if I should be judging the driving physics, but it felt very floaty and weightless.

As a fan of old CMR games I despise the new games for how COOL, RADICAL and KEN BLOCK DRIFTING AROUND A TRAFFIC CONE they are. You can't even have a normal main menu anymore. Instead it's all triangles.

They're not even about Rally anymore. You get some token rally stages, but it just doesn't feel right.

So there.

The Star Ocean games. I remember trying Till The End of Time several times and not getting past the dragon mountain (it was a decade ago, I think it was a dragon mountain, so it was probably because I was shit at video games but I don't remember having fun).
I was wondering if it was worth starting from the start of the series instead - may or may not bother with that one again and I remember hearing people say the last one was shit.

How does it compare to 3? I just hit g rank in 3 and I'm soloing it, grinding ceadeus for gear.

Fuck the alatreon right now, he's the only quest I can't do from the village, like literally the first quest that has straight up stopped me. I die in like 2 hits from him.

What a shitty crop.

Anyway, yeah, 4U basically blows 3U, and the games before it, completely out of the water in basically every respect. I'm pretty sure it took the record from Freedom Unite for most content in a Monster Hunter game to date, too.

Ay yo, Good or Shit?
