Anyone playing this? How are the new weapons? Is the combat any better? Are there actually people playing it online? Would be nice to see what other people think about it.

Really? No one is playing this? Bloodborne and Monster Hunter taking up everyones time?

Never even heard of it, anon. Is it good?

Ancient Japanese Monster Hunter with more action-ey controls.

I'm playing it, but I can't really compare it to the initial release since I only played the demo of the original Toukiden. All I can say is that I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

I enjoyed the first one on VITA, but never really got to play it with friends or other people online. So I just beat the main story and quit. If you like action RPG combat it very well might be for you.

Have you tried out any of the new weapons? Very interested to see how all three play/combo.

Crap the 2nd comment above was directed at you. My mistake.

I did the tutorials for each.

The Club is a big power weapon. Has super armor on some attacks., and those attacks can be charged. Also has a mechanic were hitting an enemy with the tip of the club will couse you to glow, giving you a slight damage and speed buff.

The Naginata is fast. Probably the second fastest weapon in the game behind dual knives. Has a parry, and also has a buff mechanic. With this, you have to keep attacking without getting hit. Do that and your attacks start getting faster.

The Rifle is the final weapon. It is, of course, ranged. It is also the most technical of all three new weapons. You can load it with three different kinds of ammo at once (the types you can load vary with each gun). The different ammo type each have different firing rates, ranges, and properties. For example, a sniper bullet that is quick and has long range, or a short range spread shot. The also allows you to throw grenades which are affected by what ammo you loaded.

Those are my quick impressions.

The new weapons sound fun, the gun especially. Can you load a sniper bullet and "shotgun" bullet at the same time, or do you have to change round type after the magazine is empty?

You can load them at the same time.

Here's some rifle gameplay from the PS4 version.
