I used to get all of my video game news from /v/, but with it's decline in quality and actual video game discussion, I'm forced to go outside of 8chan to find it. So maybe we can have a thread for our fellow anons that's a one-stop shop for vidya news we think is interesting? Of course this wouldn't get in the way of anyone wanting to make a thread about one specific piece of news and discussion it. I just propose we can use this thread, and if successful threads like it in the future, as a dumping ground for news we find.

Hey Mods, sticky this thread. A vidya news sticky would be bretty gud.
So, should we announce only the most recent news (i.e. don't post shit that happened a week ago from today)?
Also, what constitutes as news? Does it have to be something major or can it be any new piece of info found on a topic (i.e. announced game has confirmed new info)?

gematsu.com/2015/04/western-dungeon-travelers-2-four-censored-images
>Dungeon Travelers 2: The Royal Library & the Monster Seal presented some challenges during the localization process — specifically, adapting some of the fan service content to western sensibilities. Localization by nature requires some changes to be made for content to be understood en masse, which is why Atlus worked closely with developer Aquaplus to preserve the game’s themes and content to its fullest.
>In order to comply with restrictions set forth by rating boards, Atlus made concessions on just four in-game images. On these images, some minor edits were made (and approved by the developer) to adjust the overt graphics to within acceptable ranges for the game’s M-rating.
>Atlus is committed to being one of the leading publishers of niche JRPGs, and are very aware of what impact censorship can have on import titles; we are confident that the changes we made to the images in Dungeon Travelers 2 were the least invasive possible to still be eligible for a release in the west.
>Thematically, the game remains as true as possible to the original Japanese version, including the preservation of the original Japanese audio.
a24a71 No.15265
>>15261
>I want to stress again that the changes to the images are just minor edits. A lot of people are quick to assume that it’s nudity-related, when even the Japanese version had no full-nudity images. As a company, we looked at all the game’s content and identified the images that we assumed would be the most difficult to get by ratings boards. Through consultations, we were made aware of what images would have pushed the game to an AO rating, a classification that would prevent the game from being releasable in the US, period.
>So what did we do? We tried to do right by our fans: we took the feedback about the images and worked with the developer to keep the images in question as close to the original as possible, but reduce their objectionable nature. We do not plan on releasing the unedited images, but the changes are so minor, we are confident that it’s as close to the Japanese release as possibly allowed.

This was playable with only a mouse,” said Suehiro when speaking to Famitsu.
>“Before my presentation, we had a lot of fans who expressed their desire to play D4, but they unfortunately didn’t own an Xbox One. However, once people knew a PC version was made, they were very supportive of it getting a full release, on social media.”
>Swery continued in detailing the development progress of the PC version. “This past month, the staff has been working very hard to get all components of the game ported to PC, so hopefully in May we’ll just be focused on bug fixing.”

It's really unfair that somebody who paid for an entire games and decided not to play all of the content had to pay the same price as everybody else? Is that what he meant to say because that's pretty dumb.
I like the idea of two separate games (assuming they're different enough ala the Zelda Oracle games) but DLC is a poor reason to do it and I'm surprised they said it openly.
Also I'm hearing that there's a third route that's completely DLC, fucking Jesus.

He's saying that to release the game with both routes would make them have to charge twice as much, which would be unfair to people who only play one route.

If it's two big, separate games then I get it - if it's something like Pokemon, then it's a rip-off. I know Japan is getting a boxed edition with both so I'm guessing they'll do that for the West.

All the information we have suggests it's like Sacred Stones's route split, except the split makes the story entirely different and there's roughly four times as many maps unique to each route split plus unique characters. The only way this could be Pokemon shit is if they're straight up lying about 90% of what they say.
Keep in mind that buying additional routes comes at a 60% discount in Japan–the base game is $40 but extra routes are only $15.
If they're telling the truth and each route is really full enough of content that they could be their own game this is a really good deal. I suspect it's not that good but I'm optimistic that we're not being completely jewed.

>Keep in mind that buying additional routes comes at a 60% discount in Japan–the base game is $40 but extra routes are only $15.
Does the additional routes include the one from the game you don't own or new DLC? So, if you buy one game you can buy the other game and the third route for the extra $15?
That does sound pretty good but, I agree, it's hard to stay optimistic about these sort of things. Hopefully that's the case though.

It works out that you buy the game for $40, and you get whichever of the first two routes you want. Then you can buy the other route for $15 and the third DLC route for $15, so it's $70 for all three routes.
This is just JP prices though, we don't even know for sure if they're selling it as a split game in NA since the Direct made it sound like NA is just getting the "both routes" bundle.

>We’ve also included controller support on PC

>This means that saved games can’t be transferred from Divinity: Original Sin to the Enhanced Edition. This is largely because of the technical changes we’ve made to how the game looks and feels, but the story has also been rewritten so heavily that most saved games would no longer be compatible with the plot.

Would sure be nice if they brought it west and had it at a reasonable price and decent availability. Especially since where I live the PS2 versions of GU cost about $50 each, making the trilogy $150 total at the cheapest (though that's still cheaper than the original series though, which averages $175-200 here). I suppose it's up to Namco and not CyberConnect2 if the HD version comes over here, though.
Would also be nice if they did an HD version for the first series as well.

Completely fucked the pooch on supply. A lot of the ones that aren't Mario or Zelda are virtually impossible to buy for retail. A huge second hand market has sprung up of people taking advtange. Buying stock in bulk, selling at a markup. Selling these 13$ figures for 30-50 bucks a pop, sometimes 90 because people are so desperate to get them for whatever reason. Throw in that this has gone on for almost a year now and they keep adding more in-game content that's locked to amiibos, which most people can't get, and you get the shitstorm that's going down with all of that.
What I intitially meant with the Chibi-Robo comment was I'm going to assume he'll have the same problems. He'll have very small stock that sells out in minutes, if not seconds. The entirety of Amazon's stock of Robin and Lucina amiibos from Fire Emblem sold out in 6-10 seconds by the way. He'll probably fall into that trap of being too hard to get, and not worth the trouble.

That's the one reason why I think amiibos are worse than general DLC. I wasn't sure if they had changed it (it's retarded) but they're unnecessarily limiting how many people get that content. Makes more sense to have both so people who just want the content can get it.
