Remember when the Nintendo DS launched with a 3D game? And yet it somehow managed to become the Last Bastion of 2D Vidya? Why hasn't the same happened to the 3DS? Why couldn't the same still happen to the 3DS? Goddamnit I want my Metal Slug 8 and Contra 5 already.

Because a bulk of the good library is already there, and for the 3ds to get as good a library of games, there need to be massive amounts of new ideas or straight up porting ds games to 3ds. Like right now the only 3ds games that stand out to me as games that sell the system alone are monster hunter 3+4.

>base design on 3D gimmick, discouraging developers from making 2D games >don't give it powerful enough hardware to run even a game that disables 3D at a decent framerate >make publishing and dev kits as expensive as possible and implement the worst digital marketplace ever to discourage developers from publishing on your platform

Thank pre-Fez circlejerk indie/doujin devs and pre-industry shittification Japanese devs like Capcom and Konami for making the DS what it is. The fact that Nintendo hasn't made any sprite-based games for the 3DS pains me to no end. Also, who's idea was it to port the game that helped to vindicate the analog stick to a system that doesn't have an analog stick?

>>13672 It worked well enough adding in a run button. Probably wouldn't have worked so well if it was a later N64 game though, like Jet Force Gemini or Perfect Dark.

And where the fuck is the next Puzzle League game already? Get off your asses Intelligent Systems, this is becoming an abnormal length between releases.
