Let's get some Mecha discussion going here.
What's your favorite series?
Anything new coming up?
How do you like your mechs?
070930 No.14695
I want mount and blade with mechs.
c2665c No.14702
AC6 when?
I actually missed 4 and FA so I can't speak from experience, but V and VD started to seem like a huge step down after watching gameplay videos from it's predecessors. I'm hoping they bring back stuff like flight, faster combat and destructible buildings.

There is an upcoming game called servos that looks like a spiritual successor to Metal Fatigue.
It may be fun

Armored Core is my favorite series, and 4/4Answer spoiled me on high-agility flying mechs.
I also enjoyed what little I played of Mechwarrior 2.
Pic related for the kind of mecha shit I desperately want more of. I dig the organic shape aesthetics of Zone of the Enders and the BB Corps in MGS4
a72967 No.14748
MechWarrior living legends was my favourite mech game. I can't think of anything else that comes close. The only way to improve it would have been more players and adding melee features.
It's a shame it's been killed.
There is nothing bright on the horizon for battletech fans or mech "simulator" fans. However, recently I've been thinking on how the Wii U could be the home of the next great mech game. That gamepad offers up a lot of opportunities for a Steel Battalion style mech game. Even have options for multiple people piloting the same mech to maximise effectiveness (one on gamepad, others on wii pro or wiimotes)
e1999f No.14754
I enjoyed the Mech Assault series.

So is Hawken dead/shit now? I can't remember hearing anything about it recently.
752c1e No.14763
I would really want some proper Battletech mech sim. Close combat and all that jazz.
Playing MegaMek gets old kinda fast.

Fedoras hate it. But it's the best.

But they're not mechs etc etc etc
It's not singleplayer so I doubt anyone wants to bother with it.

Its really not that great, it just doesnt have anything really going for it other than being a F2P FPS Mecha

I have only two questions:
Is it true what they say about Zone of the Enders?
And if so: how do I play the games without shelling out for a Playstation?
Have some jams for your consideration.

It's really good imo. However the devs disappeared a and the game is full of BR's and ruskies now.

This looks pretty interesting. Is the western release going to have English voice acting?
198da5 No.14833

Britbong voice acting is yet to be confirmed, and chances are it won't be in because it's Neo Los Angeles. Though Shulk's VA is gonna be one of the voice options for the MC.

Front Mission represent (but fuck Front Mission Evolved)! 3 and 4 are my favorites.
If you guys haven't played the series, check for info:
http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/frontmission/frontmission.htm
And fan translation for the 2nd and 5th games in the series:
Btw, If you guys enjoy tactics games with mechs this weebshit is free on Steam and the battles are pretty tough even in the "average" difficulty. The story is cool but the game is poorly optimized:

Easier than dealing with nintendo's bullshit

Its dead because the devs were fucks who paid gjp for hype but it didn't translate into tons of money so they bailed out
The game its pretty good IMO, none of that slow mech bullshit

Then Front Mission and AC mechs are not mechs too, nice logic there bro!
Armored Core is mostly multiplayer, especially ACV, Chromehounds was multiplayer. Hawken is multiplayer.

Deffinitely follow Anon's suggestion here and >>14972 start with 3.
It is the more newcomer friendly game in terms of mechanics and strategy and while it is still an excellent game it's kinda simple when compared to the others in the numbered series.
Also, after you play 3 you get hooked up thinking that it couldn't get better then you find out that yes, the other games in the main series can be better.

Someone actually knows it…
I don't know what to say, I brought it up several times on ½chan but no one ever knew what I was talking about….
I have (not so) fond memories of it, when I got it I was way too young and shitty at games to really get into it but I found it in an old box a couple of years ago and whiled away some hours on it.
Not really anything in the story department but giant customizable (for the time) robots that wreck eachother is awesome =)

It's one of the reasons I could never get too invested in Virtual-On in consoles, the arcade experience was too amazing and felt like a step down.
Gotta give it to Sega, they had many screw ups over the years but if there's one thing Sega did well through most of it's existence was making sure the experience of it's arcade machines were unique.

I recall Miyazaki saying that he'd direct a sci-fi project. I am also pretty sure that Dark Souls was a successor to one of the Kings Field games. It would be nice if the sci-fi project he wants to direct is a successor to the Armored Core series.
