/svidya/ is a strict /v/ alternative for moderated vidya discussion. This Board wasn't intended to replace /v/ but to aid Anon's in having vidya discussions with zero shitposters. Thanks for adding /svidya/ to /v/'s recommended boards, Mark.

Is there a /tg/ related video game that isn't absolute shit?

Space Hulk manages to somehow be slower to play than the actual board game and isn't pretty to look at

Blood Bowl is clunky, awkward to play, and has a garbage camera

The only card game game I've played with any amount of polish is Hearthstone, and that comes with its own problems in addition to lacking a lot of the features of existing games like MTG

I know you can't perfectly recreate the feeling of traditional games in a virtual format, but it seems like no one has tried very hard

Warlight is pretty dank.

Well, if you can stomach the ever-more-intrusive ads that is.

The web versions of Puzzle Strike and Yomi are pretty good, but I can't find anyone to play with in my timezone. I hear Yomi's getting a Steam release soon which could help the population issue.

What's your timezone mate?

CRPG or TRPGS like:

Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights and Neverwinter Nights 2, Planescape: Torment and Pillars of Eternity all draw heavily from Dungeons and Dragons, one being set in a campaign.

Dawn of War and Dawn of War 2 are popularly considered to be the best Warhammer 40.000 games. I personally liked Space Marine and have heard good things about Fire Warrior.

Unrelated in subject, but similar in gameplay, are grand strategy games like Europe Universalis, Civilisation and games like Dwarf Fortress, XCOM, Fallout. I have it on a reliable source that the Magic The Gathering main series of video games are really good. Also an honourable mention for Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale, for being a cute inversion of the standard roleplaying game fare, even if it's more Japanese RPG and unrelated in the gameplay aspect.

Dawn of war, E.Y.E. , Tabletop Simulator, Vassal, Exile Trilogy (And other CRPGS), whatever that free board game from the one who consorts with beasts was called, Chapter Master, MTGO, Duels 2014, Almost every virtual Chess engine, Space Station 13. That's everything I could think of off the top of my head.
