What glitches in video games have you encountered that weren't just cool, but they actively improved the game?

Pokemon Emerald's clone glitch in the frontier was the shit. It removed tedious level grinding and let you focus on breeding and pokemon builds, then able to copy rare candies to get it to 100 instantly to have a frontier team.

Been a while since I played Pokemon that seriously, but wouldn't just rare candy-ing you Pokemon from 5 to 100 (or in more recent games, 1 to 100) mean you miss out on bonus stats from EV training, thus gimping your Pokemon compared to one that was trained properly? Maybe I've forgotten how EV training worked (I can't recall if you still gain bonus stats from it at level 100 or if it has to be done in the leveling process). Still, it makes for a fast solution once you're done with training your Pokemon.

Well, minecraft had many of them.

I played Tony Hawk 1 and 2 and there were also some good ones, like sliding in wall that was meant to limit the map, like a rock wall, so sliding in it didn't really count as touching the ground, so you could go from one combo to another relatively far who weren't really meant to be consecutive combos.

In emerald you could fight x number of pokemon for the ev's, and then just level up and get the stat boosts. So after you go fight x machamps for attack or whatever and finish all of the ev's, you could skip grinding to 100 on the elite four to get them compatible with level 100 in the frontier.

Also duplicating pp max so you could max out all attacks.

I fucked up my save trying to dupe pokemon, bummed me out so much that I never really played emerald again.

A glitch I like… Well, this isn't terribly glitchy, but the first thing that comes to mind for me is Star Wars Battlefront 2. In space battles, the opposing teams had capital ships that you were supposed to destroy in infrantry ships, or defeat opposing fighters. However, you also could take a carrier into the enemy's capital ship's landing bay. Then your troops could respawn there. The bug was that the bot AI would never destroy the carrier. My friends and I enjoyed fighting space battles like that because it made a silly battlefield in a small hanger with next to no cover and the only weapons available were pistols and timebombs. We also thought it was funny because the home team bots would strafe while fighting and eventually run into a vehicle and immediately fly it out of the hangar as though they were oblivious to their capital's state of being boarded.

Mockballing in Super Metroid is the best.

I stopped playing Minecraft after they fixed water elevators.

Sonic '06 in its entirety. They make the game more amusing.

Gunz the duel was only interesting because of the ability to glitch move's frames and create wicked combo moves. K-style all the way
